Iraq - what do we do now?

I didn't mean to imply that Bush prevented a WW, but I did mean to imply that the problem could have gotten larger had we not invaded. I believe that if we weren't in Iraq and Afganistan the terrorists would have already striked again here.
I don't. Remember...it took them 8 years to strike the second time on US soil - even with (as many on the right call it) the "do nothing" Clinton administration. I think that terrorists ARE accomplishing much of what they want - they "hate us for our freedoms"...and our freedoms are stripped in the name of "security". Sounds like they win that round.

I think they are far more patient that the righties give them credit for...we haven't been attacked in 5 years, therefore Bush's tactics worked. But we "did nothing" under Clinton, and it took them 8 years before they struck a second time. Meanwhile, we have done little to nothing to secure our borders and ports.

I agree completely.

What do you think, Leto...that we are playing Red Rover and by having a string of our troops in harms way halfway around the world that the terrorists aren't able to break through that line to get to the US?! And do you think that we are striking fear in existing terrorists or breeding new ones by being in a foreign land, occupying it, and enforcing our principles? I have to go with the latter. Hell...we're alienating our own citizens...just think of how enraged the citizens are in the countries we have held for half a decade.

So I don't get how you think that we are preventing terrorists from getting out of the M.E. and attacking us...hell...we can't even keep them out of the countries/regions we have been trying to keep them out of. You are dead wrong. We are actually greatly INCREASING the chance of future terrorist attacks. The damage is done...it doesn't matter what we do in Iraq and Afghanistan now...we can expect the next few generations of people in those countries to have an extreme hatred of the US and desiring to get revenge. It is fantasy to think that we are any safer. Besides...if you will remember (which NOBODY on the right seems to b/c I have to put a reminder in damn near every post)...Iraq isn't about stopping terrorists and protecting us from terrorist attacks. It is about exterminating a regime that was most obviously building WMDs since our commander in chief told us so. They have every right to be enraged b/c we have since turned the country into a shelled-out civil war and guess what? We (Bush) were wrong. That would piss me off.

"Safer" is a fantasy. Poised for increased terrorism against our country in the future is the reality. It's pretty simple logic.

Keep them at bay by screwing up what they do worldwide dude....find their cells, seize their assets, kill them wholesale.....make it hard and thats what has been happening under Bush in case you missed it.

All those cute little expoloding Palestinians in Israel really dropped off after Saddam was silenced....or didn't you notice that either?

So 9-11 is over,we should go and bury our heads in the sand once more like your liberal left is going to do until somewhere in the good 'ol US a blinding white flash followed by searing heat and a loud boom will silence you and yours forever.

What's your plan for Iraq? "stay the course" doesn't count. It has been MONTHS since you started demanding plans from everyone and even though others have given you their thoughts, you just say "keep doin' what we're doin'". We know that isn't working so WHAT IS YOUR PLAN.

Ive given my thoughts numerous times, you just don't like what I have to say.

Nobody reads your conservo-blog posts so maybe a meaningful post from you would be good once in a while.

Now you've gone and done it, my feelings are hurt. 🙁

Just curious though, if you don't read it then why would you bother posting replies to my post?

Ummm...b/c I am not blind and can see that you've posted a link to a blog. Why...did the blog say "local 12 has come up with a plan" in it? B/C I only replied by saying we don't care about the blog-responses and what is your plan (other than stay the course...the easy but disastrous way out). If you think my reply was to specifics in the blog, it must have been a really inane blog.

Delll are you certain that we are tying up ALL the resources of the terrorists over there? I don't. In fact, I kind of think that while the terrorists in the middle east have us occupied, a whole bunch who are NOT in the middle east anymore are making their plans. And seeing how our ports are really no more secure than they were prior to 9/11, I think you might start seeing the cute little exploding Palestineans showing up in New York, LA or Chicago one of these days. Only they might be bringing that "smoking gun" Bush warned us about in the form of a dirty mushroom cloud.

Wow dude better get the windex out and clean that view you have (in your arse) where does it say "local 12 has come up with a plan"?

Your the only one saying you could care less about my post, I guess the 'All Knowing Ch. 12' speaks for everyone on this board huh?

Disastrous will be when we abandon those in Iraq like we did in Vietnam and the genocide commenced taking over two million innocent lives post 1975.

You liberal limp wristed whine bags will be the first to cry because of the lack of action, kinda like whats happening in Darfur. You b!tch and moan yet have no vialble solution. Oh I know we have more pressing issues to deal with like the endangered spotted owl, or gay marriage, or removing the nativity scene, you people have lost your minds and when that mushroom cloud does finally make its way here (and it will) you liberal left wing kooks have earned a front row seat on the 50 yard line!...JMHO

Surely we should have lost millions of lives in Vietnam by staying there. That would have been the wise thing to do, eh? Let Asia deal with Asia's problems. How many US servicemen and women did we lose after pulling out of Vietnam? It's all about fighting the wars that we should be fighting...not jumping into ones that can only harm us.

You are an angry ignorant individual. Don't lump me into a group or say what I stand for. You don't clean a window by smashing the crap out of it but that is your approach to things like Iraq. And I'll sit and wait for that mushroom cloud. The Vietnamese sure hit us with one, didn't they? Oh yeah...and we have since found out that Iraq doesn't have the bomb...not even mild components. But I'm sure that they, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, et al are more than willing to increase the speed of their research on how to make a bomb that can reach us the longer that we invade their lands.

Take a chill pill, stop getting so angry, and definitely stop making ASSumptions about my positions on things. You want to debate other topics? Fine. But we are talking about Iraq. I think you rant just to get off topic sometimes.

So what's your plan?

I think the terrorists are more disorganized than before...but working in close cells and most likely with less communication with others. All their resources?? not likely at all...but like I said,I know we have put a major dent in their infrastructure for sure....so now we have a loosely organized bunch of rogues who hopefully do not have easy access to lots of cash.
Can we totally stop it? Hell no...but we can keep dogging them and dogging them and constantly making them look over their shoulders and keep them on the defensive.
As far as our borders/ports...you got it right and I agree. Its only a matter of time before we get a fresh serving of mushrooms ala allah.
I see one of the big problems with defending our borders is hampered by the PC movement....we have to stop being so damn politically correct and start being more aware and watchful to those groups, ethnic or not who are trying to kill us and our children. Is this PC crap really worth their future?

No, it isn't. But neither is unilateral war.

Local 12 -
That's his point! Despite repeated references to YOUR plan, no one seems to be able to find anything on here but you acting like a little cheerleader for Bush's failed stay-the-course strategy (little skirt and all!).

Fact is, it's clear that you haven't come up with a plan - and with each passing post it appears that you aren't capable of coming up with any sort of reasoned, specific ideas for how to fix the mess in Iraq. Until you're able to clearly state your own ideas for how to fix this disaster, it just makes your criticism of others' here seem more and more lame.

Please do tell of your party's grand plan....I thought it was a major issue in the recent elections...
