I personally like the french side but I only go down there with the mrs . kiddies go to grandmas

No kiddies with me then....we hit up orient beach, but the mrs. wouldn't partake in the culture let's just say....as far as me....hell...no one wants to see that....

Someone sent me this picture and told me that this is really how planes land in St. Maarten? Is this really a US Airways plane landing here? or is this some Photoshop joke...

The runway begins just the other side of the guardrail and it is somewhat short. Due to the mountains on the departure end of the runway, you do not want to have to go-around if you can help it. No biggy for the 757 landing or taking off. I did land there last month and had to slide a little left of centerline on short final due to some idiot in a sailboat anchored about 100 feet off the beach watching planes land.

WOW on the KLM 747 landing!! The rear gear couldn't have been more than a couple feet above that little red SUV on the road and not more than 10 feet above the people on the beach. I am really surprised that they allow people and vehicles on that part of the beach and road. If not for a couple of feet, that could've been a horrific accident in the making. Pretty shocking.
