I bet the weez has made a killing at Dania Jai-Alai
And yet, 80% of the mutual funds cannot beat the S&P 500 index fund after fees. Those that beat the S&P 500 are often times assuming more risk, so with higher risk I would expect a higher return. Don't need an MBA or even a dart board to invest into an index fund.Worldport said:I love it when a baggage handler or mechanic thinks he knows more about the market and can do a better job than someone with an MBA. You ever drive pass OTB everyone in there thinks they have it figured out and they can pick the winners, same thing

Ok. And that's why you are you and I am I. And if you noticed I wasn't trying to change your mind. I've been speaking MY mind about it.Kev3188 said:I have the same list and the IAMNPF and an IRA. Still doesn't change my mind about the plan...
Would much rather roll my accrued amount into one of the other vehicles.

When did I ever say that I was good with what they did? Man some of you guys again really want to paint a certain picture.Traymark said:For the record, my 401 is managed by a multi degreed Professional who's been doing it for 30 years and has great track record, and, most importantly, he's someone I can Trust.
The IAMPF has already proven to be untrustworthy, unless of course you're weasels, he's good with it, after all, it was all a minor infraction, they paid it all back..., and they'll never do it again, promise.
Nothing wrong with that, but there are a whole host of people here that may be faced with joining it soon-including you. I just want to give my perspective.WeAAsles said:Ok. There is a mindset, my grandfather was a letter carrier during the depression he had a job when everyone else was starving. When it was time to retire he had an income for the rest of his life. If you look at it ,if you live long enough your 401 could run out. Again a mindsetKev3188 said:Nothing wrong with that, but there are a whole host of people here that may be faced with joining it soon-including you. I just want to give my perspective.
On a larger scale, union insistence on keeping anachronistic things like pensions shows just how far out of touch they are with much of today's workforce. That needs to change for everyone's sake...
You're right Kev. We need to let all these companies off the hook in providing us with a secure form of retirement. What were we thinking? Companies should have zero obligations after we leave the company after spending most of our lives in their service.Kev3188 said:Nothing wrong with that, but there are a whole host of people here that may be faced with joining it soon-including you.
