one thing that I think needs clearing is for example in our station  our admin will call the FT or PT for OT depending on the shift for either or  but when offered she will reduce the hrs by say 1 hr or 4 or 5 hrs    So for example John Doe signed up for the whole 8 hr shift   Admin Clerk calls Jane doe for the OT but only for 3 or 4 hrs out of the entire shift   The OT was put up for the entire amt of 8,0 hrs  why do they get to reduce the hours  to suit their needs or something?    they dont care if we work short  but if someone signed up for the entire 8 hr OT  it should be doled out as 8 hrs    not 3 or 4 or 5

Not saying I disagree with you. But article 6A of the IAM agreement, says the company will determine the amount of overtime hours to be worked. This currently is pretty common in several stations of not covering the whole shift.

Again, so leave out the guy quickly making up lost wages due to illness. Just have him fall in line and get it when he can...but hey, that guy got it daily while I was out. Seems fair to me NYer.

The guy with the most hours is always at a disadvantage, because they will always be ahead of those that don't sign and don't work.

Yes that is correct.
CB in your contract do the hours go back to zero at the start of a new bid?

If they do, there's your equalization right there.

In our contract that means 3 times a year we're equalized right now.

Not true if you do away with equalization.

I can't sign up for one month cause my kid broke his leg and I need to get home right away from work. In the meantime you racked up 30 hours of OT in that one month.

Well my kid is ok now and I'm back to signing up again. Eventually (the fair way) I'm going to catch up to your hours.

Once we are (truly) equal we slog it out. You get holdover on Monday and I get it on Tueaday and so on. But your not stealing from me cause my boy broke his leg.

And I say that what's good for the majority. No let me rephrase that. What's good for EVERYONE is the end of equalization so everyone finally gets treated EQUALLY.

Why do you have a problem with that idea?

You're in the minority on that.

Well I guess that will be determined at the negotiating table right?

Maybe the "greedy" people in the room will back off?

The equalization holdouts that is.

Doesn't get much clearer than that. That is true equalization!

They are reset quarterly.

Wow so you guys equalize 4 times per year. I REALLY like that.

CB putting you on the spot here. If you invoke the 5th I'll understand.

TWU way of equalization? or
IAM way no equalization?

Can't say at this time. I personally have worked under both and prefer our way. But I can't say which way we will go with that right now.

Thx C . But I feel that if they offer an 8 hr shift for OT then that's what it should be. Just my opinion

I wasn't looking for the room vote Brother. Just your personal opinion and thank you for that.

So NYer so far by AA employees it's 3 to 1.

Are you really so sure I'm going to be in the minority there Brother?

Hey Robbed what do you think?

If I never sign up for OT and you do should I be equalized all year long or should I only be charged for what I work until the quarter is over?

Personally if you work OT then be charged. No sign up...no charge. I myself don't do very much OT
