In CLT maintenance we have several voluntary furloughed members who the company will not grant an extension, they are forcing them back to work.

So what this does is now we will have three workers laid off, the company will have to pay them severence and their unemployment, but all this could be avoided and save the company money if they just grant them an extension.

Talked to several higher ups in management, M&E and labor relations and they all say no, we are making them return to work.

The actions of this management is nothing but callous towards the employees.

Lav,

Did these individuals file the extension request before the deadline? I thought the extension for these folks was fairly automatic, IF they filed for it properly.

If so, is the company providing a reason for their "logic"?

Thanks,
D

one person missed the deadline and the other two were just told flat out no, no reasoning what so ever.

Yep, more tunnel vision. Force someone back that doesn't want to come back and put someone on the street that could stay and pay them not to come to work.

Gotta wonder what in the heck they think.

It's no wonder the Co. is making them return, not that I agreee with the way it's being handled. In PIT they are down grading mechanics (8ea.)to utility in Heavy Mtc. because the cut too many people. The company will not admit they wacked too many.
