All the talk about not giving up their "hard earned" wages, and not giving into the man, and now all the unions are back peddling like Dion Sanders into the endzone of consessions.. What a bunch of sissies.. No wonder Mgmt is having their way with you pansies.. They divided you, and they conquored you, now the individual labor groups running around like chickens with their heads cut off.. You folks we PLAYED!! But like they say, dont hate the player, hate the game.

Bronner & Lakefield are genius.. They called labors bluff.. They had the balls to do it.. little dave just couldn't crack APLA, the holy grail of shafting the rest of the UAir unionized employees. Unions are dead, a brotherhood could never last when their is infighting amongst the family.. I wonder if the pilots felt good backstabbing their "union" family?? "I voted for me".. sound famillar?

Seriously, whats the union even for?? Its done no good for any of you, its obvious Mgmt wears the pants.. Mgmt gives labor what it wants to give to labor.

This is not just the rebirth of an airline, its a mighty blow to the relevance of the modern day union.

Excuse me the IAM is not back peddling, we are not negotiating with the company.

I disagree the mechanics at U are wimps they have had plenty of chances to get AMFA in not the least of allowing 2 votes on the same proposal.

U will be long gone before AMFA ever stepps on the property thats even if AMFA would ever want to.

The unions are for themselves....they have a bottom line too! They are in this to make some cash. They represent you and you pay them dues.
if you don't like what the union does, you still pay them dues. ;)

I strongly disagree with your remarks about unions. Go to the streets of Pittsburgh outside of an union hall and start yelling that unions are dead; you will be the one dead.

The pilots are only union members as far as it is to their advantage and it has always been that way because they believe they are part of corporate America, most pilots feel that way, ask any line mechanic.

If unions went away today it would be a lot worse than one can imagine, don't kid yourself about that fact.

We have the wrong political party in the white house right now and are seeing the fruits of corporate America's payoff to Rush Limbaugh type self righteous zealots.

Unions created the middle class in this country. Just because the airline industry is in disarray and corporate America is exploiting that fact for all it's worth doesn't mean unions are dead.

It goes in cycles and if you lived long enough you would realize this fact, it isn’t over and never will be as long as people have a spirit against tyranny, and the American worker sure in the hell does, just ask any construction worker how he feels about unions being dead. I dare you!

Unions may not be dead in Pittsburgh, but their members jobs sure as hell are. When was steel last made in Steelertown? We all know what the unions did there!

True. We don't call em' "Sky gods" for nothing.

Once again, very true and well said. The pubes are a bunch of chickenhawk crooks who want you to work for nothing and be able to send your kid to Iraq. And Rush is just an oxy-fairy(You can imagine how he got that 'anal cyst' that got him out of the draft). Unions have helped to make the middle class, but also competent and humane management in American corporartions made it possible as well.

spirit against tyranny

Don't knit a union flag over it. Unions have been bedfellows with: corrupt politicos, mafia thugs, communist and socialist organizations, "tony soprano types", etc. Unions have plenty of dirty laundry of their own to hide, what was that about "marching against tyranny, but remember to pay your union dues"?

wow where did I say unions where dead? I said U was dead (U = Usairways Inc, remember the old ticker symbol) Sorry for the confusion, but even so do not threaten me please thank you very much.

I think you unions people need to stay strong! Don't give in to Management. You'll show them. When U shuts down and they have jobs the next day, but you can't find anything but work at McDonalds.

I was told the other day by a high ranking union official that the IAM would be legally obliged to bring a package to the membership for a vote if presented by the company. Guess the stand is open. so much for Scotty Ford's tough talking letter. I hope they at least wait til the A/B issue is resolved.
