With open skies on the horizon, where will US Airways fly to first from LHR?

I don't see a huge benefit unless they can generate some *A connections that drive more people to the flight. I don't know what the big huge appeal of LHR is, other than it's the rare gem everybody wants. Now that it's something that's attainable, will it still be highly sought after?

Lets not forget the Star Alliance, its member airlines combined have a sizeable presence at Heathrow !

Cheers

Obviously, PHL. But first they have to purchase slots from someone. I wonder whether US will put up the $$$ to do it.
They'll wait till the Sunday Newspaper comes with the Coupon for 25% Off Slots.

But its actually a Nickle Slot Machine from the 7-11 on Paradise Road. 😛

Why make this a poll? It's obvious that Sandcastle's stance is to put all future Intl flights out of PHL.

I remember reading somewhere that they would potentially obtain 8 slots (4 roundtrips). I don't know this may have been purely speculation.

If true i would expect
PHL 2x daily
CLT 1x daily
PHX 1x daily

You have to think that the yields from NYC are going to be deluted, with the addition of DL, CO, and possibly BMI.

BOS is already heavily served with BA, VS, AA, and possibly DL now

CLT does not have that much demand as BA canceled its one-stop flt from BWI, but with the feed from US they could probably operate a daily 762.

I think PHL would be a given here. The others would be a stretch. See, we get back to that "We have few widebody a/c" thing again. Better get those two A340's quick, HURRY.

BMI is a Star Alliance partner and has a hub there for onward connections, and the other Star carriers have a big presence there. you can fly to almost anywhere in the world from Heathrow. Messy airport, but still one of the most important in the world.

UAL serves LHR from LAX, maybe AA too? AA and DAL serve London from BOS, assuming its LHR on AA.

If US got one slot, it would be from PHL. Second CLT, maybe PHX if they had the aircraft. Durr, certainly not PIT they don't even do LGW from there they would never waste a Heathrow slot for a low O&D city with connetions to Watertown and Altoona.

I booked a trip to Munich and one option was to connect in LHR. I looked at the design of the place and I would be better off doing a nonstop.
