Liar

I figured you were in an East city, by EAS I meant Essential Air Service cities that is operated with YV agents. I'm shocked (well as shocked as any of us can be anymore) that they are furloughing in other cities besides PIT.
nope not a YV agent.....

Rdu and Mci have also been advised of their furloughees. This isn't good guys!

Just another day of inept management and lies. Doug {chug-a-lug} Parker, first told us that he was closing Pit. Then told Pit AFA President that it was a slip of the tougue that Pit would remain the same. LIAR! Doug, said in his letter that," he is always mindful of the impact those decisions may have on our employees." LIAR! He goes on to say," This was a very difficult decision, primarily because of the impact it has on an outstanding group of Usairways and PSA employees. We are commited to ensuring that all affected employees are treated fairly and compassionately. LIAR! The reason that we live in Pittsburgh is because we did not want to commute. There was a Base in Pit. Thank for caring so much, Doug! Do us all a favor, don't tell us how much you care for us, Becouse when your lips move, you LIE.
I disagree. I think that the reason the Company took so long to come to a decision about PIT was because they knew very well the impact the closure would have on employee morale. They were extremely "wishy washy" with regards to PIT: Displacements, more displacements, rescinding displacements (after listening to the FA's), all while delaying the inevitable, trying to make it work. DP never said to us that PIT was going to be "fine." He has said it has been marginally profitable, and for the past many months, has said that is is not performing "as well as they would like". How would you translate that?

I agree that a lot of things this mgmt does with regards to morale and onboard/airport services is an absolute abomination. The closing of a money losing crew base/ facility is not one of them, and I disagree they "lied lied lied" to the PIT people every time they opened their mouths. That is simply not true.

That said, I realize emotions are running high, and there is nothing more painful than having to uproot families and lives. Good luck to all...

Two issues.

They reversed the displacement because they were found to be violating contractual language, not because they were nice guys, as you imply.

Shifting the revenue base from business travelers to vacationeers is hardly concordant with your opinion, "trying to make it work." I am quite certain they do not know how "to make it work". The best I could say is, yes, AWA marketing is very trying.

What contractual language were they violating by displacing FA's? Just curious....

I agree that management is inept; I simply saw the PIT pulldown as them trying to "make it work" in terms of keeping a base. I was not speaking to their management skills. I think many of us agree those are severly lacking. Regardless of their company running skills, you can't keep a base with no flights...

Lets see.....I have just received my furlough notice stating my services will no longer be required after the start of the new year and the end of one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Come Thanksgiving and Christmas and I happen to have many sick days left which will become worthless once I become furloughed.....gee whiz, wonder what a person should do???? Depressed with the upcoming furlough...maybe that affected employee should take some time off before the layoff!!!!

Just a thought........

Are you in Pit? How many mechanics will this latest action affect?

Do what many other mechanics did, myself included, get out of there ASAP and keep your sanity.

There is a special place in hell for the those who do this to people’s lives and benefit from it, this I am sure of. Remember this life is only a twinkling of the eye therefore their time is fast approaching, count on it.

PSA is furloughing all ground staff in the following locations....

Asheville, (NC) October 14, 2007
Johnson City (TRI) October 14, 2007
Dayton, OH November 11, 2007
Louisville, KY November 11, 2007
Pittsburgh, PA January 5, 2008
Why AVL, TRI, DAY, SDF? We knew PIT, but what are they doing with all of these people? Who will staff these stations? PSA is part of our family too so can't they have first shot at a mainline CSA position?

And why RDU and MCI? What do these stations have to do with this whole thing? I'm at a loss as to why they are doing this to the field stations now.

I know AVL is going to be a PDT station. The folks there are happy, they said not only do they get a small payraise and keep there vaction..... but they will be gone from PSA. Not that PDT treats there employees good, but I'll been told PSA managent doesn't give a crap at all theres.
