Lost Job thread. Will be interesting to see on weekly basis.

Brookings: Without government job cuts, unemployment would be at 7.1 percent:

"Without those job losses, the unemployment rate would be more than a full percentage point lower:

Had the percentage of people working for government held at the 2001-2007 average of 9.7 percent, about 1.7 million more Americans would have been employed in June and the jobless rate would have been 7.1 percent rather than 8.2 percent, according to economists Michael Greenstone and Adam Looney of the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution in Washington."

"Government employment is at historic lows, largely due to draconian budget cuts at the state and local levels throughout the recession. The sector has now lost more jobs than any other major industry over the past three years, Bloomberg Government points out:"

Of course many on the right would have you believe that the size of government has increased under Obama. The federal government workforce that has not been downsized, has faced a pay freeze for 3 years.

Here is one of our sitting Senator's who goes on a national talk show armed with nonsense, and is called out by the Nobel prize winning economist on his error:

"Sen. Rand Paul believes that the size of the U.S. government has increased under President Obama. So when Paul Krugman explained on ABC’s “This Week” that there have been significant cuts to government jobs under Obama, in fact more cuts than any other sector in the past three years, Paul was just incredulous."

“The thing I don’t understand is that you’re arguing that the government sector is struggling,” Paul said. “Are you arguing that there are fewer government employees under Obama than there were under Bush?”

“Of course. That’s a fact. That’s a tremendous fact,” Krugman replied.

“No, the size of growth of government is enormous under President Obama,” Paul returned.

Yeah, sounds to me like he's cutting government jobs !

"All that money and power is going into an empire of czars and commissars. While cabinet members have to be approved by the Senate, czars do not. Obama has 38 czars, compared to 8 for Bill Clinton, that cover everything from Asian carp (yes there’s an Asian carp czar) to the automobile industry to online security to ethics. Bypassing the cabinet also allows Obama to bypass the traditional limitations on executive power."

He's actually up to 45 Czars now !

And I guess this is "Republican Math" also !

The reason the jobless rate is not climbing is because people have stopped looking for a job !

"Many have given up altogether, left behind by the economy and left out of the government’s employment statistics. In fact, so many people have given up looking for work that the official jobless rate fell to 8.1 percent last month from 8.3 percent, even though the economy is not adding nearly enough jobs to absorb the growth in working-age population."

And from a trusted "Democrat Liberal Source" to boot !

Maybe they should have gone into czaring.

Back to cutting and pasting on weekends when the voice in the radio isn't giving orders?

Yeah, cutting government jobs and stifling the growth of small business, you know, those Evil $250,000naires, sounds like a great way to decrease the unemployment rate.

And Dog, just because I don't make sh!t up, like you, and use sources, doesn't make it false, just usually makes it something you don't agree with, which is fine by me !

Got Jobs ?

You post stuff other people make up. Not bright enough to make it up yourself.

If it can be found on the internet it must be true.

Really, so everyone that lives in the U.S. that accepts unemployment checks, welfare checks, section 8 housing, SS, SnapCards , MediCare-Cade, has put money into the system....................right ?

Unemployment checks, employers contribute to, SS yes. Medicare, yes. Snapcards, hell it is good enough for military families, it is good enough for everyone else. Medicaid? Dont worry about it. Those people will be killed by incompetent doctors that accept it. In a way, I wish they would abolish it too. It is an embarrassment to America. Had a relative on it. What a terrible shame!

I'll put it this way Tree, as you brought "Heat of the Moment" encounters into the picture earlier, are those 2 people, if condoms are even on their mind A. going to the local Mini-Mart, 2 mins. up the street to buy a condom or B. going to the health clinic , across town ?

Were there meaningful sex ed, family planning, availability of contraceptive and open discussion of sex then perhaps the number of unwanted pregnancies would decrease.

I do know that the path we are currently walking is a utter failure. We have the highest teen pregnancy rate out of all western nations.

So I will ask again, what is your plan?

A truely FREE society means that you are responsible for YOU. Not a government. The role of government is to preserve Liberty and protect it's citizens from aggression.

So if Planned Parenthood wants to exist it can do it on its own. Just like the Salvation Army or any other charity.
