Maybe US will decide to stand and fight for once.
Why not make the trip part of the US Airways Shuttle Brand? Here's another thought. Price is slightly above WN and off a FLAT FARE, all the time, anytime. Charge more for peak travel times.
Do this on all branded shuttle routes and consider adding LGA-CLT to the Shuttle brand as well. If US continues to allow competition to come into it's back yard soon the revenue premium will dry up and US will be toast. Which was why Wolf tried to merge with UA because he felt US had no long term viabilty due to LCC's paoching their prime routes.
I can understand matching them on the flights closest to their departure times, but why match them on all of our flights?
But Sparrow - is the Shuttle really a brand anymore since there's absolutely nothing to differentiate it other than the hourly service? There used to be a sub-fleet of A320's with all coach 34" seating, the cool French meal packs customers could pick up upon boarding, etc. etc. etc. Now the flights are assimilated to mainline standards with tighter coach (albeit with added First class) and no special meal service. I don't think there's anything special about the shuttle flights if we can even call them that anymore, so there would be nothing special about a PHL-BOS flight either......
WN will grab some market share. US will be wise to hold it's own by competing on the price, even though it will hit their bottom line hard on that route. There are a lot of regulars/elite flyers in BOS and PHL, so it will take more than a few $59 flights to get them to make a full switch...

Granted, WN has better staying power than all other airlines, however it will eventually drop this route, just like everyone else.
With 59% of the O&D passengers and less than half the flights, it's debatable that US "won" the PVD-PHL competition.
