M&E reductions announced

Got a call from Tx said a management group (FOE) had a meeting and they are moving to DFW. It was understood by this person that work left at AFW hangar was moving to DWH. FEDEX wants hangar for 777 freighters. Fact or Fiction?

If that's the case they better get construction going at DWH. It can't hold 3 767, it can't even hold 2 767 for a C check. I'll never say never but i can't see it happening. Stirring the pot once again are we?

Talk about Fedex wanting its own overhaul capabilities has gone on for at least ten years.

That said, Perot would let AA out of its obligations in a New York minute if FedEx wanted the space. And I'm pretty certain that DFW would bend over backward to steal that business away.

As we all know from his sentiments as expessed in the past if it was up to Eoleson the company would simply terminate them and replace them with lower waged workers with no sick time in the bank and only one week of vacation.

You lie like a dog, Bob....

Show me anywhere I've ever advocated protecting lower seniority workers by firing higher seniority workers.

Please. I'd love to see that in writing.

Did you not read the post I just posted. If AFW is going to do ,lets say, 3 767 C checks. THEY WON'T FIT AT DWH, without ALOT of modification to the current hanger at DWH. It has 1 767 dock, 1 757 dock and 1 bay that can hold up to a 777 with no dock. Currently the empty bay is used for 777 engine changes. The rest of the hanger is narrow body only. They aren't working on it. It doesn't appear that they are planning it but, who knows. I just don't see it.

No pot stir. Just trying to figure which way to jump my crystal ball is broke.

Sure I did. And those two airports love competing with each other. That's why it wouldn't surprise me to see the airport board or even Irving kick in money to expand DWH, which is within Irving's city limits. Heck, Grapevine might sweeten the pot to expand one of the existing hangars or tear down the old airfreight building.

Latest rumor.
Both MCIE and AFW to be closed, everything is going to Tulsa.

Same thing we hear in Tulsa. It will take some time but that will be the end result.

New Hangar to be completed in Spring of 2009. So not immediate move.

7 day coverage in Tulsa to take up slack and extra work load.

Probably an actual overall headcount increase in Tulsa before all is complete.

Pulse Lines for 737, 757. Hangar 6 for the 777 and new 80000 sq ft. to hangar get 767.

All over flow will go to DFWH Delta Hangar, management wants some unlicensed mechanics in that area for some reason. Must be some shop work going there also.

Latest word is we will soon be voting a new 18 month contract extension after the VBR's leave.

Heard the same thing. I don't know if it is another rumor but of course I will believe it when I see it. Let's hope if it does that there are enough people that take the VBR so those stations can find work elsewhere, or close to home.

The F/A's could check daily from what I heard how may put in for the VBR. Anyone hear how the TWU will (inform) us??

Here in Texas it will be the Dallas Morning news or the Star Telegram....these seem to be the TWU information outlets...lmao. Lord forbid they use their website or chief steward and shop stewards...

<_< ------- Who knows? It might happen this time! But, keep in mind that all these rumors about base closures are coming right before the window for the VBR opens! Could it be that the company wants to max. the number of people who take it? And if too many, at one place, put in for it, they can always invoke their preconditions! We'll just have to wait and see, or take them up on it!!!

Actually we have been hearing about at least one base closing for about the past 4 months, who knows?

We have VBR and contract negotiations. Wouldn't this be the perfect time to scare everybody about base closures so the company can get what they want?

Click your heels three times and keep saying that things are not going to change and this is just scare tactic manuevering.

Click your heels three times and keep repeating that the axe isn't going to fall.

Click your heels three times and keep saying what is happening really isn't so.

Maybe if enough click their heels, the company will be over whelmed by some outside force and will not take the action that should have been taken in 2003.

Get real folks, the company got their concession to avoid Bankrutcy in 2003 and now they will reduce capacity and actually restructure the airline industry supply and demand problem. This should have been done long ago, but Government Corporate Welfare delayed that which was so desperately needed. For those that survive this, just be thankful the Corporate Welfare didn't actually destroy the industry beyond complete repair.

Get ready all you AMT's the AA TWU pull together is about to pay off................less than 4 dollars an hour after they took 7 five years and raped us!!!! Thanks for buying into the whole pull together bullshit scam. Another AA showing the unions the shellgame and screwing us all
