Knoxville Tennessee is host to the Junior Olympics this next week. Every flight to Knoxville is full, full, full. You would think the magnificent marketing department would know when different cities were having events so larger aircraft could be put on those routes, but apparently not. What would it have taken to put a CR700 or even an extra section or 2 on during this week?
Delta apparently knew something was up in TYS because they are bringing in MD88s chocked full.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I just have to consider the mentality of the marketing staff.

Hey, you should know by now that the world revolves around Arizona for US Airways....if it doesn't happen in Arizona, its really not that important....so sad, yet true...

And where exactly are we getting the extra craft to do this? We can't downsize a plane going to or from anywhere else as EVERYTHING is oversold.

We need BIGGER planes on MANY MANY routes.

Don't be stupid CaptBud....that would require someone in Tempe to use their God given brain!!!!

They would have to figure out that cities do indeed have annual events that require larger craft.....planning ahead would be something wouldn't it?????

We can't fly bigger planes...it would upset the contract carriers.

The new mainline...Mesa, Republic, Air Wisconsin...etc.....

Too busy marketing OTHER companies on US Airways and dictating how inflight should be ran.

I went to recurrent recently, and at the end there was a cheesy "You Make US Fly" type of speech they had the instructors read... the closing projection said US AIRWAYS... YOU MAKE US FLY or whatever, with a photo of two "US Airways" tails... I know my tails... it was an E170 and CRJ900, neither of which we make fly. Thought it was pretty fitting.

Don't you know by now, this company is only going to upgrade equipment for an EVENT that will make it the most money! During Indy500, they upgrade all the flights to 757 and add at least two roundtrips a day for the whole wkend from Phoenix. 🙄

"You make US fly", Usairways is now the proud sponsor of SWAMI'S. Now that is pretty bad marketing!
Remember the training program years ago in Pit, Usairways begins with you, those days are over forever!

Isn't that the TRUTH. Coming from an advertising background , I was never really "wowed" by the cheesey Heritage Circle, Paint scheme and the "I make US fly" campaigns. After a period of adjustment......the Circle IS what it IS (I draw no attention to it), the paint scheme (whatever...I just expected something Better) and the "FLY" campaign.............DON'T GO THERE! I will DO E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G possible to make your trip dramafree and comfortable but NO WAY am I part of THEIR TEAM.......I do as I see fit, screw them and their sloppy, negligent uncaring procedures.). Those that KNOW me will tell you.......You'd think YOU were on a Whole different Airline. Funny thing Is........You Are, "MINE".

As far as that cheesey Heritage Circle, it's ALL wrong. Allegheny DID NOT merge with PI,PS and HP. USAir did. (This should have been an indication of things to come.) As I have said on previous threads, I WILL NOT lower my standards to the HP way. I will work as I have been trained to do to take care of our pax with no drama. I as well as you, operate as if it was MY airline.
