Mechanic Furloughs

Mechanic furloughs.
How many this time? Who is going to do the work?
It's bad enough we don't have parts. Now nobody to install the parts.

According to the contract United can furlough all the way to 10-89, (19 year mechanics), letters were sent out to mechanics that 'may' be furloughed to 4-90, from what I have heard. United states, we can, per contract furlough to 89, but the contract also states United cannot farm out more than 20% of maintenance, and United has, it is assumed, farmed out in excess of 20%. The farm out issue is still in the courts, but a decision may not be decided on before mechanics are furloughed <_<. I guess the contract only applies to management.

I can not believe it, but I actually miss working at The Lazy'U.
Not for the work in and of itself but for the great people that work there!

I sure hope the FedEx guys are seeing this...They think the teamsters are going to get them the world. I tried to tell them it is all about the dues money. After they get in you will never see them again...UAL is a case in point.
