Merger Partner - ALL US Merger Talk Here

Merger Delta and US Airways ..... then combine the routes and get rid of 2/3 of the RJ's. The combined airlines could use 4, 120 seaters a day instead of 10 RJ's on routes like RDU-LGA, GSO-LGA, RIC-LGA, and many many more just like them. Adds pricing power and fixes yield, ATC delays at the same time. Brings back flying from express to mainline. Southwest is prof that a full 120 seater with one crew yields better than three 50 seater and three crews.

Oh ... I forgot Delta is to good for US. Forget it.

Our only hope is as the last choice because no one else is interested. We're a fat hooker desperate at the end of the night.

With NW and DL walking away from the merger table, does that make US attractive now? I could see Parker selling to delta now, being that DL wants to be the big dog. This looks like its going to get really bad, soon.

One thing wrong with your thought...DOUG has a Big Ego and to sell to Delta...NOT.

He doesnt have a choice, there are CBAs and laws that must be followed, this was all changed after Pan Am sold assets to Delta.

They cant just avoid the laws and the CBAs, there are ramifications.

Here is an example from the AFA/East CBA:

They did it with the pensions, they can do it with the FRAG rights and its coming. Better have a plan B in 8 months....🙁

They did it with the pensions under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, they had to have the court terminate the pensions and the PBGC sign off on it. And it cost them millions in stock to be issued to the PBGC to cover the shortfalls.

The company arbitrarily could not make changes without the above, and the pensions were turned over to the PBGC, they did not just disappear.

They cant do it with the fragmentation rights, they are not in bankruptcy and just cant avoid what the CBA says.

If all these mergers happen that people say will happen, would it be a bad thing for US to be sitting on the sidelines? Would they be able to take advantage of the reductions in service that will most likely occur.

What, so we can pick up more service from throwaway secondary hubs to markets that were obviously pointless? Wow, sounds great. Maybe we can get Northwest's 90 year old DC9s too.

oh the venerable DC-9... I would give anything to have that thing back now, along with the 737-200, F100, MD-80, and all of the parked 737-300/400's. So many people couldn't be happier to see those things go but you know what, as unglamourous as they were they = JOBS, a decent income, and some pretty cool off the wall layovers. Now look at what replaced all of those planes and our JOBS oh yeah and the ability to commute to work! Remember when the -300 was THE plane to fly... coast to coast!! Back then we were even able to make eating out of a dog dish look classy! Guess you don't know what you got til it's gone!! anyway enough of my rant, EMB you're right as usual.

Ahhhh ....memories! Oh how I remember cruising along in "my" beautiful -400 into the setting sun on the way to SFO from CLT, when the cockpit door opens and a sweet voice says " Hey Guys, we have some Filets left over ... would you like one?"

"Make mine medium-rare please!" ......... (sigh), those were the days!!

Those 400's were beautiful machines .... pristine and kept that way on a daily basis! MEL's were a rare occurance! It breaks my heart to hear the tales you all tell about them here.

That was back in the "real USAir" days!

757s,767s & 777s would have been a better and smarter way to go competition and job wise.

737 transcon every time all the time. Uncle Ed was nuts.

I personally prefer a Yacht over a Cruise Ship!

What is it with aircraft size??? It is the cabin configuration that determines the comfort!

I must say that with all this talk about wide body aircraft and the 737 transcon the airbus is no pleasure cruise cross country now either. You can't open an average sized laptop and everyone looks as if they are giving scalp massages to their neighbor in front of them. Fly cross country lately in our first row of the exit row on the 319? I mean YIKES! ! ! ! I have said it before and will again, "we kept the closets on the 319 up front yet have the SAME seating configuration as the west a/c". How can that be unless they pack the east plane tighter. It's junk.
Back on topic of a merger though...Somebody please save us.
