From webcast, 6 EMB-190s to replace 6 737s in first half of 2008. Great.
Trying to understand why no growth.....any ideas? Could they possibly be thinking there is a need to get the existing capacity running right first?NOTHING is growth. This company has not the desire or vision to introduce 80 airplanes worth of new flying.

This article gives the general idea......Trying to understand why no growth.....any ideas?
It's not all that bad...at least the income gap between Group II and the EMB rates isn't as large under LOA 93 as it would be with a joint contract.
19 deliveries next year, 14-EMB, 5-A321.From webcast, 6 EMB-190s to replace 6 737s in first half of 2008. Great.
I've missed you Marv Jr., really. No, under a joint contract it will be smaller, because I know both groups are smart enough to not accept the EMB pay offer on the table. Remember, a replacement EMB may be coming to a base near you soon.
The 6 EMB-190s will be staffed with about 70 pilots, but 130 pilots are being recalled on the East side of the operation per the article in this topic. That's a vacancy of at least 60 East pilot positions Group 2 and above.
In addition, the Company will begin taking delivery of 37 new A320 family aircraft in 2008 and apparently the A340, which most likely will be based in PHL for potential China, Tokyo, Moscow, and Tel Aviv service.

I guess the replacement aircraft could come to Phoenix eventually, but what I do know is that they ARE steadily arriving at a base near you. Incidentally, just heard on the webcast as I type that there will be 19 deliveries next year, 14 of which are EMB jets. It's a good bet that all the EMBs will be headed out East. There's your attrition/captain upgrades. Enjoy.
p.s. I'm not jewish.
Now Doug is making a great comparison between airline pilots and FedEx/UPS pilots. Says it's in the best interest for labor to support consolidation. Nothing new, really just common sense. DAL pilots' biggest concern last time around had to do with the job losses associated with the MD90s and I don't blame them. Maybe Doug should have touted the retirement numbers from the East side to support his premise that there would be no pilot job cuts with a consolidated company.
Jewish? You stated before that your Dad was a UA guy, aka Marvin Mainliner, from a previous post, guess you missed that one. 🙂
