CHICAGO, Oct 9, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- United Airlines (UALAQ) today announced that it will launch daily, non- stop service to San Juan (SJU) from its hub at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) effective December 15, 2003. United currently flies weekend- only service between Dulles and San Juan via St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Flights are available for booking beginning today.

This move follows United's announcement to introduce service to Grand Cayman, continuing the airlines' expansion in the Caribbean, which also includes flights to the regional leisure destinations of Aruba and St. Thomas. In addition, service from Washington Dulles to Cancun, Mexico will begin on February 14, 2004, pending government approval.

"We are excited to be expanding our service between Washington Dulles and San Juan," said Kevin Knight, vice president - resource planning. "This additional service reflects our ongoing commitment to the Caribbean and our desire to offer our customers more choice when flying to leisure travel destinations."

The service will use Airbus A320s or similar aircraft with 138 seats, configured with 12 seats in United First® and 126 seats in United Economy®. The southbound flight will depart Washington Dulles daily at 9:25 a.m. and arrive in San Juan at 2:10 p.m. The return flight will depart daily from San Juan at 5:00 p.m. and arrive at Washington Dulles at 7:54 p.m.

Flights are available for booking beginning today.

This move follows United's expansion in the Caribbean, which includes flights to the regional leisure destinations of Grand Cayman, San Juan, Aruba and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition, service from Washington Dulles to Cancun, Mexico will begin on February 14, 2004, pending government approval.

The service will use Boeing 757 aircraft configured with 24 seats in United First® and 158 seats in United Economy®. The southbound flight will depart Washington Dulles daily at 5:25 p.m. and arrive in San Jose at 9:22 p.m. The return flight will depart daily from San Jose at 10:15 a.m. and arrive at Washington Dulles at 3:37 p.m.
