What gives.US is sending N610AU back to leasing and I hear 2 more 757's are going with her. When US is so tight for aircraft why would they not try to keep them?

IFIC, it was the leasor's choice to not renew the leases on these 3 757s. It was negotiated during one of the bankruptcies.

And, don't forget there is an order for 321s and 320s for later this year (or maybe early 2008). I also read something about one of the other carriers selling 757s and Kirby said we would always be on the lookout for airplanes.

The blocks just came out in Philly and the 757D is capped at 95hrs. With three a/c leaving, something is not adding up. Does anyone know if we the renegciated those leases?

IIRC, these are firm orders - but I believe they are not due until 2008.
With Parker trying to spend tons of cash on merging, why not put it towards new aircraft. I know they have some on order but they need them now. Why not order some 767-300ER's? Wouldn't need much to train as for US operates the 200's.

With them taking 757's back, how are they gonna replace them, with A321's? They'll never make it Europe. It doesn't hurt to have several extra widebodies around. They can fly them domestic. Why run 2 A319's when you can run 1 330 or 767? Sure the 330 has more fuel burn but when you use 2 319's that is just excess fuel being burned, and they could utilize that extra 319 on another route. I don't understand how running 2 319's from PHL-PHX 20 minutes apart makes sense. I know currently US has a shortage of W/B's, but they should be addressing that now. Keep getting RJ's. Can't make much money on them. Parker should get his head out of his a** and worry about running US instead of merging.

"On August 30, 2006 the Company announced that it had restructured and added seven new Airbus A321s to an existing order for 30 A320 family aircraft. The amendment also converted one A320 aircraft and seven A319 aircraft to an order of eight A321 aircraft. Deliveries of the 15 new A321 aircraft will begin in 2008 and run through 2010. The new A321s will be configured to accommodate 183 passengers in two classes of service and will be used for replacement purposes or modest expansion should market conditions warrant."

Other than the 190's, there are no new deliveries that have been announced before the 15 A321's mentioned above. The rest of the Airbus orders are scheduled to begin delivery in 2009.

It wouldn't make any sense to acquire any new/used aircraft until the fate of the DL merger is known, which shouldn't be much longer. If it's a go-ahead, then there will be many widebodies to supplement the fleet.....

Which won't be running PHL-PHX.

It would be wise to carry extra W/B's. What makes more sense, 1 W/B flight compared to two A319 flights. I am saying this IF they had extra W/B's. How long do you expect travelers to deal with those 757's on TA service? And I made the statement that the Merger shouldn't happen and was implied as a single US entity.

Even if they do happen to merge, Nothing will be integrated much before 2009 at the earliest.

US needs to worry about its own in-house problems before trying to tackle more. The web site is horrible. It has to be the worst of any airline. I have a friend who travels 100k-150k miles per year and he won't use the new website because it is too much of a hassle. He can book a AA or UA flight within a minute or so. His planning of trips time he wants to keep at a minimum, with all the travels he does. It was nothing against the employees why he won't fly, its the web site and its problems. 100K a year for him that US lost. I wonder how many other FF's US has lost.

Then there is the seat pitch, cram everybody in. Even WN has more room in their planes. There is different ways to increase revenue, but keep cutting the passenger services, there are competitors that can take care. And having the attitude see ya, it will add up quickly. I just hope that the management starts worrying about US instead of merging. There are ALOT of GREAT employees that US has. Its just like in the safety announcements, "When the oxygen mask drops, put yours on first, before assisting others". Same applies to US, Take Care of Home before straying away.

Hey, I don't like it--I remember transcons on the 767s not so long ago. But those days are dead. They'll take all the widebodies international. Even DL, who used to feed off the 767s ATL-Florida is turning those birds loose on international routes (less competition).

And everyone is jumping on the 757 bandwagon--only way to avoid 'em is to fly the european carriers.
