US Airways 757 Fleet Age

There was an issue with the the Pylons on the 757s, all of the US/East had their pylons modified and rebuilt and we have RB211s on the 757s.

since when has cost and rationale ever been a concern at U?

Touche! :p

Seriously though, what are the costs of changing engine types; other than "not cheap"? Aside from the actual costs of bying/leasing the new engines, how much "plumbing" work is involved? I would guess that the Pratt pylons would have to be replaced as well. Having said that, how long would it take to justify the costs vs. the costs of having a subtype (with increased spares costs as the like).
(Assuming that US is thinking about the -231s?)

Also on the 757 front; any word if US is looking at having the aircraft (either ETOPS or standard) retrofitted with winglets? Again, something that does cost money up front, but with the price of fuel...

Same on the west..........it was an AD, actually a series of AD's.
