Now that our favorte mgt. has decided to add all of those extra seats... why are we getting more..
they can't make it cross country w/ extra pax... and every time I fly it... we have to flag stop and get more fuel.... then all of the pax miss their conex....

they were good before PHX added all of the seats.... other wize... they are fine up and down the east.... but dont try to fly them east to west...

IMHO

Now since these new tail numbers are not covered in the TA, why can't they be flown by both west or east crews or swapped between the two seperatley? What N registration will they use?

FYI-

I have almost 6000 hours in the Airbus 320 family of aircraft, many of which were acquired in transcontinental flying. And in that time, I have only made ONE technical stop for fuel. And that was owing to an extraordinary jet stream with headwinds in excess of 140 KTS for much of the flight.

The company uses the A321 transcon because it costs less to fly it than the B757, and it only carries 8 fewer passengers than the B757, as both are currently configured.

Not to mention it is a more comfortable airplane for crewmembers and passengers alike and has better inflight entertainment systems.

Happy Flying.

I think the new A321's will be equipped with longer range engines, the current West A319/20 have them. Anyone pilot/mechanic know for sure?

Oh please....I always fly the 321 from PHL and CLT to LAX,SFO and have never stopped for fuel. Spare us the drama!

LOL, it's too much fun to complain all the time. I've flown the A321 250+ times PHL-SEA or SEA-PHL or CLT-SEA or SEA-CLT. I've *never* stopped for fuel, no matter what time of the year.

I commute SFO-PHL and last winter on my commutes home on the 5:55pm 321 from PHL-SFO I diverted 3 times--once to SLC, once to DEN and once to OAK!!!  You should have seen the look on the passenger's faces when the Capt. said we had to divert to OAK
because we couldn't make SFO!!!! I mean you can SEE SFO from OAK!!!!

Also, there are many UAL connections(the last flts of the night) on that flight and everyone on all 3 flights missed their connections as we were 2-3 hours late in each instance!!

Is it the added weight of extra seats--I dunno--have heard pilots say yes and no....either way it did happen several times last winter.
