What's new

New 321s

They aren't BIGGER. They are just plain old CFM's.

Yeah. I didn't think they could be any bigger. If they were "larger by a wide margin," there would be clearance problems if a wing dipped during landing (unless they flattened the cowling like the 737-300 and -400...and THAT would be really noticeable.)

The engine in the picture is cowled like the CFM, and not the IAE.

does the interior have the new style airbus interior? like new sidewalls and overhead bins and brighter lighting? also i noticed that the engine has a jagged fiaring like the e190
I was wondering that and if the 2L door is going to be made bigger still or if it will be like 2R and 3L/3R. We already know that:

It has the new leather interior
The ovens will be removed
No IFE
Has CFM engines
Capacity 16/167

AC 193 has v2500 Engines and all Airbus qualified Techs have to go through a one day course, which are being held all this week.

The first 3 A321's including 193 are CFM, the next 4 are V2500.

So the course is not for this AC but the next 4? Why the big push to get them done this week?

Has anyone counted the seats yet? They've consistently referred to 187 seats since the changes in the order were announced. Here's but one example, from the annual report:

The new A321 aircraft will be configured to accommodate up to 187 passengers in two classes of service and will be used for replacement purposes or modest expansion should market conditions warrant.

Jim

Thanks understand now, that is why the courses are in PIT and CLT not PHX.
I had misunderstood it as a FAM Course for the A321 with V2500s.

Well, ya know, I guess there might be seats 9B,C to go with 9D,E and then back at the 3R door they will probably sneak in 2 seats there too. Man they sure are insistent with cramming in seats.

If it hasn't already been noted on these boards, then I would like to inform everyone that the new 321 is arriving on the property on Wednesday 7-21-08. We were informed by the company before we left for Athens last night. In addition to informing us of the delivery of the new 321, the company also briefed us on the new seat belts onboard the new 321 that now features airbags for those passengers seated at bulkhead seats. The airbags are required for all new aircraft delivered after 1-1-09. US is taking the pro-active measure of installing the new seatbelts on thses new aircraft. Hey, we're taking new aircraft. Good news. We're gonna be ok folks.

Yes the original config was going to be 16F and 171Y, and changed during aircraft spec, the new config is 16F and 167Y.
