new 777's

Many will be inop anyways because the AMT's will have ZERO training in how to fix them when they break. But they look good in the HQ lobby.....
It's not as much the training as the lack of parts. We almost never get specific training on something like a new seat, just fleet type one week overview training. Most AMT's can read the maintenance manual and make a determination of would needs to be fixed, problem is the part most likely is in Tulsa or AFW.

American exec: Airline will 'aggressively' seek more China routes

Mr. Joyner discussed the opportunities of more international service, as well as the challenges. For one thing, the skies are getting more crowded as other carriers shift toward the more lucrative international flights.

Here are excerpts:

Do you have the right planes to expand your international flying the way you want?

In the short run, we've got enough flexibility with the fleet we've got to rearrange the airplanes in a way that would allow us to concentrate the [Boeing] 777s to open up new opportunities in the long-haul destinations. We have substantial fleet of 767-300s that can be deployed to fly some missions that the 777s fly today.

The obvious choice for us is what do you do about a 787. That is a 2012 airplane for us in terms of the version that would make the most sense.

By and large it doesn't make you really enthusiastic about ordering a lot more 777s right now because if there's going to be a next-generation new airplane available in that timeframe, that's going to give you a big productivity improvement.
