New AA Union Drive

By the Way, I received an AMP card via United States Postal Service yesterday.

Someone needs to contact Burchette so he can contact D. Kruse and inform him that there has been another breech of security. There needs to be an anti-AMP rally next week on company time so that the current management can speak out in favor of the TWU. We might even get to witness another RatFest.

Anyhow, filled the card out and mailed it back. Thanks for making it easy.

If there is a vote - is this a AMP yes or no? Or is it AMP vs TWU? Could an unintended consequence be not having a union at all?

How long do you have to collect cards? Do they all have to be withing 90 days or so or is it indefinite?

What happens if the TA passes and AMP gets voted in next year. Do you still have to wait 3 years to reopen negotiations?

A. Effective with the election of the National Officers for the term beginning July 2010, the term of office for the National Director, Assistant National Director, and Secretary-Treasurer shall be three (3) years and shall commence on the first day of July, and continue for three (3) years or until he or she is re-elected or a successor has been elected and assumes office in accordance with this Constitution and Bylaws.

Since July has passed, Who is the current elected Officers for these positions?

The constitution was written in july of this year thats why the date is july. to answer your question there are no officers only a steering committe the first elections will be held asap after certification & the committe has agreed that must be within the first 180 days

It would be AMP vs TWU with the one getting the most votes winning, it is our understanding that the recent changes in the nmb elcection guidelines makes anyone who does not vote neutral. It has been explained to us that with this rule change that you can no longer lose your union if less than 50% participate in the election, and while we believe this correct we are double checking to be sure.

The cards are good for one year from the date they where signed that is our window but we prefer it be much sooner, as far as if the contract passes we will be stuck with it for the duration of its term.

There are a few major flaws with the TWU and many minor flaws.

Major Flaws

Appointed International Leadership

A belief that these appointed leaders are all knowing and that they do not need professional assistance at the bargaining table and in arbitration hearings.

Federal Court confirmation that contracts and side letters of agreement do not need membership approval or ratification.

A belief that contributions to political campaigns are more powerful and a valid replacement for membership demonstration and action as a means to advance organized labor as a whole and advancement of the dues paying member.

Indsutrial Union Philosophy that believes we should upgrade unskilled labor into skilled positions and attempt to train them from within rather have the company hire trained/skilled/experienced workers. This dumbs down the profession and lowers our worth.
