New boarding policy

AA had something similar when I first started in 2000.  I don't remember the details, but it was pos space passes for perfect attendance IIRC.  It was one of the first things they eliminated after 9/11.

I don't think they were positive space. I believe they were First Class free D passes to any destination.

Never positive space. They were fee-waived systemwide D's for use in any cabin. Just about everyone I know hoarded them for the next trip to Europe, Tokyo or Brasil. The holiday ones might have been added D1's.

I haven't heard of a route specific nonrev embargo, except for D3's or at a new city... is that a relatively new thing?
how are you so aware or not of how AA's pass policies and benefits?

For someone who supposedly flies on paid tickets and has no pass benefits, you seem mighty preoccupied with what AA employees have for pass benefits.

New Non-Rev Policy Implementation

While the Company solicited input from employees and union committees on the make-up of our new uniforms and the paint on our aircraft, the Company is implementing on September 10, the new First-Come-First-Serve non-rev policies without input. Rest assured they are well aware the majority of Legacy US Airways employees are very disappointed in this unilateral decision which nullifies dedication and length of service to this Company.

The new boarding priority may affect many of our crews, particularly those who commute, by not being able to get to work on time, home from a trip, and will certainly result in more fatigue reports and trip disruptions. This will not only be a burden to our commuting pilots, but also to our reserves who will most certainly see an increase in the number of "quick callouts". Stress will increase in many of our pilots. Inquiries from the Chief Pilots offices, as a result of sick usage or "unable to commute" entries will certainly increase. Ultimately, this new policy will have a negative impact on our airlines schedule reliability.

USAPA does not and never has endorsed this new policy and has advised the Company we are very much opposed to it. The Company acknowledged our position, but advised they will be moving forward with it regardless. Over the weekend, the Company has finally posted the following information on Wings (click here or view below), on the new non-rev policies scheduled to go into effect on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Employees and retirees will be able to access the opposite carriers non-revenue travel programs on September 15.

Well, well you had better adapt to the new policy, usAPA.

Are you kidding me!! Why is it only the US crews are complaining? None of the American crews have any problem getting to work. Over fifty different flight crews questioned, and not one wants our system changed. You had no problem sending America West to the seniority based system because you were bigger. Try using our system before you start telling us how bad it is at American. KARMA IAB.

US years ago had a policy of rewarding employees who did not call in sick from Thanksgiving through New Years day.  You got one roundtrip space positive for you and others on your pass.  They controlled capacity by using the frequent flyer seat category. It only lasted a few years.
I can't remember if it was after the first or second chapter 11, US gave employees a positive space ticket but no changes could be made in dates or destination after the original booking. Still, a nice way to show some consideration to the rank & file. Don't think it will ever happen with the current management team.

You chose to commute, so remember nobody cares about your commuter flight.

Try using i'm fatigued because of commuting and see how fast the airlines get the rules changed so you can't work on the day you commute. I believe there were over 20,000 applicants for AA the last time they did some hiring, so it's not like they will never be able to find someone to take your seat.

Quit whining or just move to the city you work out of.

With all due respect, commuting is for the most part a choice. If one knows they he/she has to TRAVEL to get to work, he/she has to realize that GETTING to work may be a problem
For those of us who COMMUTE to work by car, and those who may commute by public transportation, there has to be a realization that there could be traffic due to a multitude of reasons...Let alone commuting by air.
No one necessarily wants to uproot their lives and families by moving, but sometimes it makes more  sense to live within a reasonable distance from work.

Rest assured that if the employees from both airlines AA/US were to be polled, I'm quite confident the outcome would be the same, because AA is the larger of the carrier, and AA would carry the majority of the influence.

Which method would you prefer be used for determining non-revenue boarding priority?
Date of Hire (DOH) (64 votes [48.12%])
First Come, First Served (FCFS) (63 votes [47.37%])
I'm fine with either. (6 votes [4.51%])

Well, there you have it folks, Boss Parker is going against the majority!
Good thing he didn't listen to the people as I prefer FCFS... B)

Uh, we can start with the fact I used to manage a large portion of the nonrev program, including jumpseats?

Unlike you, I didn't spend my entire career working in one area at HDQ.
