What's new

New BOB snacks and soft drinks

The problem is that inflight creates procedures and implements ideas without any regard to how it will impact the flight attendant group. Look, we moan and complain on this board as a bit of an outlet but out on the line I know what works. We as a group also know what needs to be done. I am so tired of being treated like mice by management. Are these the same management inherited from America West in Tempe that put Elvis on aircraft? I will do whatever it takes to get through my service with minimal impact to our paying passengers. I WILL NOT play with that HHD for a lengthy period of time like a child with a gameboy. I also WILL NOT be told to "ask inflight" when the only information you receive from them is a jerkoff response. They create this stuff THEN....and THEN put so called "specialists" out on the line to "preach the gospel" to us about what needs to be done and how to do it. Blow it out of your ditty bag. I mean really...transfer that, count this, refund that, swipe this, charge first class, primary device..... How about this. Catering loads the crap onto the aircraft, the f/a turns on the HHD and sells. PERIOD. Let those that "have all the ideas" do the dirty work in their cubicle with an abacus and figure it all out. 🙄

LOL, ask inflight told me the official answer is when you are out in FC then you are out. No taking from coach. I ask if they planned on letting FAs know and did they plan on issuing a CBS and their responce was this is the first they have heard of the issue. *shrug* It is rather funny that the company just assumes FAS Know that they are not suppose to take items from the coach supply.

LOL

That is interesting because I got a totally different response. Geez! I guess just do whatever...wing it, make it up...anybody know what's going on here?

Im glad that they are trying different strategies to make $$$ rather than sitting around or playing golf. Sooner or later something will work. I feel this is a bad idea only because it wont b a controlled item. Any employee or contract personel can get on a plane when it is sitting on the ground and take premium drinks. I still give them credit for trying.

Are these new premium drinks still being served in premium plastic cups?
😀

Same as they can take the liquor, wine, beer, and non-premium drinks.

I love how they say to be sure and lock/seal the carts. Hmmmm I'm in the mood for a Redbull and I know they're in that cart but how will I EVER get that plastic lock off? My goodness. Anyone in contact with that cart from the time it's loaded onto the a/c (or before) to when it's taken off can get their hands on it. Like I said, "Don't call me in for some jackass crap involving inventory or the HHD". 🙄

US1, I love your new avatar!!
I am really glad to see the new premium beverages up front in first class. About time they take more care of the ff's. Now if we could get some premium food. 😉
There are plenty of the new specialty drinks boarded in f/c, so I don't see a problem running out. We have always transfered liquor and such from coach to first, so is going to stop you now???
They went WAY overboard with specialty drinks in Coach, too many in the carts! Nobody is buying all this crap! And the rumor is the NOODLES are going away soon, which is a big mistake because they sell very well.
What is primary device? lol. From what I hear, most fa's around the line don't care, and nobody is entering the inventory either??! The machines are smart enough to take credit cards and names of all things sold, but can't put begining and ending counts??? Total B.S!! <_<

People are buying EVERYTHING. I've never seen anything like it. In the middle of a 4 day, and I cannot believe how much we've sold.....

That leaves the biggest market segment of all. Those in the middle. Those who:

Fly regularly. 5 or more round trips per year for business
Fly for leisure 2 to 4 times per year
Are price conscious, but price is only one of many considerations
Business travelers who travel enough to earn Elite Status but generally don't buy full fare tickets
Combination Leisure/Business travelers who earn elite status and buy full fare or even F tickets 20 to 30 percent of the time.

All of the above almost NEVER buy the lowest fare

I'm sure I've missed some groups but I think one can get the point.. This is IMO where the money is.

You've missed me: Leisure travelers who fly once or twice a month, and buy on overall value. We pay out of our own pockets, so value is of the utmost importance to us. And we are extremely loyal to the airline(s) which we fly, so the lowest price on any given ticket is almost never factored into the equation.

The minimal business travel which I do is dictated by our corporate contracts, leaving me no choice in who I "get" to fly -- so I try to avoid business travel if at all possible (or I do what I can to circumvent the corporate contracts as long as I can stay within policy).

US Airways MarketPlace turns flight attendants into fast food vendors
It'll be interesting to see how successful US Airways is with the new expanded in-flight menu and if other airlines follow suit. The new food and beverage options are offered on mainline flights only, so will not be found on US Airways Express or US Airways Shuttle flights.

I don't mind selling the products and the customers seem to like them. My ISSUE is the INVENTORY of it. It took me over 30 minutes to pull out all the stuff from used carts and count it. I can't watch or assist people with their bags and check the cabin as I'm too busy counting. There's not time to do it in the air on short flights. Plus, I was filthy from moving all those carriers around.
I can understand why we need to count food (BOB) since this belongs to another company. These drinks and snacks have got to be moved to one cart or there is no way we can do our job. It takes forever to load the HHD even on white sealed carts. Of course, you can't trust that either since half the time they are white sealed with the wrong count/missing items.

Thank goodness that at AA they gave up trying to get us to inventory when we went cashless. The inventory was supposed to be entered on the deposit envelope. No envelope. No inventory.

I used to try to do the inventory, but when supposedly sealed carts were being boarded with the seals (and some of the liquor) missing, or when being recatered I watched the catering truck driver roll the sealed cart from the a/c to the truck, and the first thing he did was pull the seals off, take product out of the cart, and hide it in the truck , I quit bothering. This happened time and time again. We used to try reporting it to corporate security, but they were more interested in catching f/as leave the a/c with a Diet Coke in their bag.

Nobody will EVER convince me that doing inventory of boarded items is simple or necessary. I also can see doing the inventory of BOB meals/snacks since they don't belong to US. I have also witnessed caterers on the truck juggling items to complete carts or atlas carriers that contain the individual snacks. It's TOTAL BS and I don't honestly think we'll ever see the entire f/a group doing it. What gets sold is what gets sold. As mentioned it is very difficult if not impossible to inventory all that crap on short flights while your to be making announcements, monitoring bags and bag space, assisting with dupe seats etc. It takes away for what you are REQUIRED to be onboard for. I don't mind selling in the air or using the HHD. I DO mind having to count the items and hitting "primary device". It's unnecessary. 🙄
