There is a fantastic new book out called Come Fly With Us: A Global History of the Airline Hostess. Great photos and some nice recognition for how hard Flight Attendants have always worked.

I think it's great to have the history of our profession presented in a book. I hope there are lots of pictures. It's an interesting and colorful history and I think anyone with even a passing interest in the flight attendant job will enjoy it...if it's decently written and illustrated, that is. Does anyone know how to get it?

...and no, I don't think we're taking it too seriously.

The book is on amazon.com, and at comeflywithus.com, and probably other online bookstores. It really is worth a look. I think a look at the book will answer the question of taking the profession seriously...the authors have a lot of respect for the women flight attendants. In the 1930''s they were nurses...and who will ever forget the flight attendant who foiled the shoe bomber recently? That woman''s not in the book, but she should be! It''s a history worth taking seriously!!
