New Flight Attendant Training

Furloughed4now, I read back thru to find out what info you are looking for.
I haven't been on reserve since I was CMH based, and that was a piece of cake, so I can't speak from experience, only from what I observe.
Our reserves get worked pretty well.
I believe the goal is to get them as close to their gurantee as possible (75cr?)without actually going over, and they do prettty well at it from what I hear.
Of course there is always complaints of so and so is up to 60hrs and I only have 20, or vice-versa.
Sometimes its hard to figger how scheduling is following the rules, or what their formula is, and I guess they have been known to play favorites. But only 40hrs a month is pretty rare.

As far as coming into a 'recall' situation as opposed to off the street, Would you expect to be cut any slack if you were hired at, say, Continental? Just because you already know some stuff that you learned at a different airline?
We are not recalling anyone at HP, we are indeed offering initial training. We are still operating under seperate certs, we are actually seperate airlines.

I had the pleasure of recently meeting a furloughed 6yr East FA. She is flying at MAA, but recently married and moved to PHX. She is commuting to DC. We talked about where talks were at about this hiring US fas deal just the other day. I hope she checks the hotline asap, cuz I know she will be THRILLED at the offer, and I hope to see her upstairs and online soon. And anyone else who is able to take advantage. The rest I will have to wait and meet at integration!

In the mean time everyone, don't be afraid to go up stairs at PHX T4 and look around. (Not much to see) but you will be greeted and find lots of FAs who would love to hang out and chat. Particularly the ones in the hot room. I believe there are also some bid and paring packets sitting out. You might even find desertgal or even me... 🙂

More info for you:

All tests are now in the computers. There is a computer lab in the training facility and this is where you will take your tests.

We have great trainers. You might recognize a couple of them. They were former US Airways F/As that got furloughed.

One tip if you are visiting the Hot reserve room or the crew rooms. Be nice, humble and friendly...Some of the juniors are not happy (not all), but if you show a good attitude and personality. They will welcome you.

Thank you first of all for being so friendly, this is the way it is supposed to be

Trainers ... when are they "from" I would LOVE to see them again! Send me a PM if you want to! Because I loved all my instructors from "way back when"

Secondly, I am looking forward to going to PHX and meeting all y'all. I know they will get to me on seniority because the 'others' won't go. Me? I can't wait! I actually like PHX! except you have no beaches.

What is the "HotRoom"????

The Hot room is where ready reserves sit. They have TV, DVD, VCR, video collection , sleeping couches etc.
You sit here for 4 hours until they call you or you are allowed to wonder around as long as you have your cellphone on. I don't know if you have ready reserves at US east, but we do. They cover boarding (if f/a's are late) or somebody gets sick or no shows for their trip at the last minute.

What is all of this about no pay? In the E-Line it points out the section in the AWA contract about training pay. I think it says 3 hours per day for recurrent and 1 hour for every 2 for all other training. I mean its not much say you are in your first year of pay then 16.18/hr X 3 or 4 hours a day but maybe for some people it will work. It also says that you will be able to receive benefits from day one of training. Basically you are an employee from the first day of training, pretty much the new-hire length but not exactly floating out in space either. Guys I know its not much but its something, maybe small in the beginning but its a paycheck and health insurance, besides if you people are thinking about commuting on RSV all the way to PHX then maybe its not for you anyway. It's easier to live in base on RSV. I have to commend the union for even getting this much. I just hope some of you will stop the fighting.

There are a lot of "beaches" in AZ.........just not a lot of water. 😀 But seriously, there are some very nice lakes and a lot of water activities and plenty of sunshine!

Thank You!  I wish I could speak for others, but I won't, BUT (I'll speak for myself here ... and perhaps a few others) I look forward to working with you 😀

I just wanna go back and see the ValleyHO!

Now, can we get some numbers, etc.... 😛h34r:

Loved the comment of the ValleyHO!

My favorite layover at US!

TOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!

Your post is laughable. I am grateful, but I don't think you are. I wouldn't care if seniors bump me or juniors come here. I am right in the middle and I've been here 20 years. You already know FARs, Fire fighting etc? From when? 2000? Well I have a suprise for you honey, FARS changes and new policies come up. We have a different system here at America West and different company policies,so you definetely need to be trained as a new flight attendant. By the tone of your voice and with that personality, the 20% not 40% that are junior to you are going to eat you alive. So you better shape up and loose the attitude, it's zero tolerance in training.

LOL, well FYI, itsnotthatserious was online till 2004, so i think she-he knows the FARs'and fire fighting lol - you are great!!! LOL if you think someone from PHX is going to eat someone from PHL alive you have sorely been misinformed so lube up honey - cuz your ARSE is in for a very RUDE awakening!!! LOL -And its more like 37% don't forget many of us were hired in '99 and the best thing is everyone will go over there and learn the west way and then for transition you will immediately turn around and revert to the east way... YOu guys are running circles.. The policies will more than likely go back to the way the east coast does it b/c there will be way less people to train, so your 20 years of imbedded FIRE FIGHTING will have to be changed to the east coast way!! LOL !!! you swish from the left to the right at the base of the fire not the right to the left !! OH GOD I BETTER STOP!!! LOL!!

I made another Eastie friend one evening while checking in for my flight home at B6. He was going to visit his parents. I ran him upstairs real quick for a look around. He was PHL based and had a FANTASTIC attitude, not nasty like goodgirl infers.
I thought it was funny that his impression of our breakroom was "Its so big!"
He was a sweetheart.

I really don't care whose procedures we use as long as my paycheck keeps coming.

Right in the middle huh...20 years that would make your most senior FA 40 years...I dont think so. I was hired in 1999 and flew until june of 2003 I then went back to Mid-Atlantic. And Knowing what was going to be the outcome there, I just completed 4 week of training with an airline that has 2 plane types. I slept through 90% of the class. One of our instructors was new, and guess what she asked me to clarify things for her. I dont say all that to make myself feel special. I say it to let you know that NOT ONE FAR has changed. This is the most simple job in the whole wide world. Its like riding a bike...you just don't forget it!!!!! Read the QandA put out by your MEC look at the numbers and Im senior to about 1200 West FA's so thats at least 40%. As for the eating me alive thing...trust me when I say that I CAN HOLD MY OWN. I don't have an attitude. You did and thats why I felt the need to say something to you in the first place.
