What's new

New Pilot contract

Thanks for the help understanding your "love" of your contract. What a bunch of children. I'm sorry, that's an insult to children.

If you can read you can figure it out for yourself. Why all this dependence on other people "enlightening" you guys all the time. No wonder you're so ignorant.
Wow, that makes a lot of sense. Why ask the experts, when you can just "fling feces". Talk about ignorance.

Ignorance is caused by not informing yourself. We have attempted to do that. I guess your kind of information is a goat video and stupid songs. They sure got you guys real far.

Why is it the East can only talk about being reserve ?
The East can talk about a lot. It just so happens that the reserve system is ripe for company abuse due to it's complexity. Even those of us that are lineholders can appreciate the insanity that is the reserve system.

Plus, since a lot of us are about to move up to new positions on larger airplanes and seats on the other side of the cockpit, it would be nice to get this thing fixed before we have to live it (again).

If you had a real union, you wouldn't have to solicit for this kind of input on the internet. Real unions hire real polling companies. Fake unions, like uscapa, are too afraid to ask the opinions of the membership.

I was being sarcastic. Under the NIC reserve is all you'll ever be ....

Real Unions are in touch with their membership, Like USAPA, I am sorry I missed a recent card drive, recall, etc ! METRO, USAPA is keep'n it real, ask the AOL and the return on investment of their legal bills, USAPA gets a big payday on the profit sharing, DUES money to pay SEHAM thanx !MM! BEST MONEY WE LUV YA USAPA!

Gotta feel the love, Wow, would think a simple discussion on contractural items would be possible.....

Regrettably no. The seniority award Nic or Doh whatever changes things so dramatically it almost a waste of time until that is resolved.

After all, what good are Captain rates if you won't ever BE a Captain?

What good is the most awesome eye watering deal if 1700 West pilots are downsized into east bases and put ya on the street?

I agree that the reserve system needs some real improvement. But, the scary thing is that each time in the past that things were "tweaked," it only got worse. The entire philosophy and structure needs to be demolished completely and an entirely new system built from the ground up. This time, don't even worry about throwing the baby out with the bath water....the "baby" in this case has been dead for many years and is truly beginning to stink!

Here's a thought on POTA, though. Since POTA is supposed to be the rare exception used only to keep the airline running, then there should be real consequences for the mismanagement that caused the POTA in the first place. Anytime a pilot accepts a POTA call (there would still be no obligation to do so,) then the first 10 days of the following month is free of all duty and missed trips (even those just touched) will be paid in full. Put THAT in the contract and there would never be another POTA call....ever.

Agreed, at EAL a "draft" as they called it... was 84 hour immediate 1/2 day 1/2 night... guys used to set up lowering the projection knowing the "draft" was coming...

that is a big negative here as well as the transition R to S.

thanks for the post

Rather than just point fingers, why don't you enlighten us? I guess being constructive would be against your nature. We can read the west contract all day long, but unless someone actually enlightens us about how it ACTUALLY works, we won't know.

For example:
How are trips awarded to reserves?
Is it a short/long call system? Is there a pay difference?
what are the penalties to the company if they assign reserves trips on days off?
What are the rules for commuting on reserve?
How are pay guarantees affected by flying on holidays or days off?

The only thing I've ever heard about the West reserve system is that you have to check with scheduling at the end of your trip to see if they want to use you more that day. The East guys typically CANNOT be used more that day, and don't need to check with anyone. Even that detail could be in error, as no one has ever offered to clear up any misconceptions.

good point Oldie, on RSV on the east when the door opens and your gone, you don't have to answer the phone for 9:15... then if you are an R you get 9 More hours to show up... gives you some ability to get home even for just a night!

I also agree with the longer call out.. We didn't close the bases the company did... MINIMUM long call should be 12 hours.. that will get most people to work when scheduling calls at 2000.

I've talked to the NAC and suggest those that feel strongly do to.

Your "UNION" is the one that is responsible for educating you, if they could ever tell the truth.

My union has been a lot more accesible than ALPA.. so I think your taking your anger in a misguided direction.

You have a dispute on senority but it doesn't meant that you have to turn negative on everything the union does.

again I've found them very approchable on issues.

You can "what if" yourself into an early grave if you wish. If there's one thing I've learned in this business, it's that you deal with what you have today. You can't even guess what management might do tomorrow. They could open a new west coast crew base for all I know, or reopen PIT or BOS or LGA, who knows? There's no making sense of this screwed up industry.

If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that the Nic WILL NOT be the list for the seniority integration, so we can just move on from there.
