What's new

new polyester "winter" coat

I like that the new all weather coat doesn't wrinkle when you have to throw it in your rollerboard but it doesn't work for our cold weather NE destinations. I was freezing in it in Albany and Buffalo this month. Another poor decision by the Tempe folks who don't understand the NE weather conditions. I am surprised that they don't have us wearing shorts in January when it is below zero in some of our destinations. Another POOR decision like getting rid of closets for the coats of our business travelers in the BOS-DCA-PHL-LGA markets. I AM TIRED OF APOLOGIZING TO THE CUSTOMERS IN THE LAST ROW OF FIRST ON THE E-190 AND THE AIRBUS 319/320. When will Tempe get a less regionalized thought in their brain????????

Word has it that they are putting a "closet" on the E-190.....shocking, I know! But on that airplane you CANNOT hang jackets/coats behind the last row of first class because there is no room at all. Not sure when they will start appearing, but they are going to be put just to the right of the 1L door/directly across from the 1L jumpseat, where there is currently a double compartment that's used for emergency equipment and that gawd awful "PSK Thing" adopted from AWA. I guess if they are willing to spend some money will should see them soon....but we all know how that goes!

A closet om the R side like the 170 had would be best because it's a full size closet with galley space on top, and a false bottom with a drawer that pulls out into the galley where more supplie like water could go. That would result in having to go with the 97 seat config rather than the US exclusive 99 seat version. A L closet is better than nothing, it will replace that odd console thing that is there, but that equiptment will have to go somewhere, either in the first small OHB or in the closet herself. Not to mention the stupid briefcase full of toilet paper has to go somewhere. The L side bulkhead is smaller than the R, so it will be a short closet that isn't very deep. If it does happen it will be on deliveries beginning in the summer, and the others will later be retrofitted (surely as quickly as usual).

Anything will help with that dire configuration that, as usual, they were advised against by F/As but decided they knew better. Why listen to the F/As who were the launch customer for the airplane four years ago when you can rely on some accoutant in PHX who's never even laid eyes on one to decide on a configuration? 🙄

This bloody uniform company is crazy.

I just received, yesterday, an entire uniform that I didn't order. This shipment however did have the correct size pants in it, so I'm going to swap out the wrong sized pants they shipped me last week.

Nuts!!

<SNIP> Nothing says cheap like Polyester. or a F/C broken overhead.
Polyester is too expensive, Bob. Word from Tempe is that all employees will receive several rolls of Cargo Pit Tape that they can fashion into their own uniforms.

Guaranteed to fit, and they match the interiors of the aircraft perfectly. Gives a whole new meaning to Tempe Tacky:

I wonder when Stan Herman is going to bring back Liesure Suits as part of the F/A uniforms for men??

From the pictures I've seen of the new "business casual" uniforms - I think he already has.

Please refrain from making such stereotypical statements in future.

A thought just occurred to me regarding the new winter coat.

Isn't Polyester the absolute perfect material for a US Aiways coat to be made of?

I just received my "all weather coat" yesterday. Not only is it cheap, it's fugly!
What's up with the collar? OMG
Black Hefty bag and a sash would look better than this, and probably keep me just as warm.
This will not cut it for the East & North Winters.

Be thankful your work group has the ability to even order a winter coat. My work group isn't so fortunate... we have guys on the ramp wearing their street clothes. What a charade and circus this is. I have wanted a new coat and can't order one and have had to suffer some chilly mornings on the ramp as a result... oh well.. good luck.

Call it what ya want but Ramp Rat was pretty dead on. So how many people in Tempe do we have working on the tast of a new winter coat? Think we'll have it by oooooh say winter 2009?
