Seasonal Uniform Mmodification (Neckwear)

Effective immediately, Flight Attendant neckwear (ties/tabs) is optional. All neckwear is optional through October 30th (date coincides with wearing jackets).

When the unifirm shirt is worn without neckwear , Only the top button of the shirt may be unbuttoned.

All other uniform policies remain the same.

good news. now it's official.

After al the lecturing of our dear male agents, I hereby solemnly swear to starch my shirts, neck included, and ALWAYS wear an undershirt. Aman!!

and ALWAYS wear an undershirt.

A wrinkly shirt would be better than no undershirt in my opinion.

Saw an FA the other day and told him that you would never know that he and his colleagues wear the same uniform. He was "dressed to impress" and it worked...that crappy uniform does look better when it is pressed, tucked in, and you are wearing an undershirt.

Oh I may be sick. One more excuse for our group to look like a MESS. Does this apply to Tansatlantic flights too? The aviator shirt was never
A. meant to be worn by women
B. worn open collar without a tab/tie

It just looks sloppy and unkept. I understand we have been beat up and put through the ringer but one thing I refuse to let this company take from me is the personal pride in my appearance. Our customers deserve a nice professional image. We are in the saftey profession and need to convey that to our passengers with a CLEAN and PROFESSIONAL look. They want to take the ties away fine but not until you get a shirt that can be worn open collar.

I agree! I'm all for no ties...but with the right shirt. The aviator shirt is not the one!

1. I must disagree with you here. I have seen many illegal tieless looks and many looked very nice. On the other hand, a slob is a slob, tie or not.

2. 19 years tells me the customers could give a rat's ass about looks but being treated with respect and professionalism. If our current or future uniform speaks for my ability to be professional, then that is sad and with this tired uni, I would had been bitter and nasty a long time ago. That theory hold little water.

Also, I guess the SWA f/a's are unprofessional or the DAL guys were unprofessional in their old uniforms were domestic tie wearing was optional.

Our customers deserve many more important items.

3. The company can never take my pride of appearance away. I'll look sharp as ever, but WILL bring a tie just in case I feel "unclean" or "unprofessional".

I have always said that starch and an undershirt are king if no tie is worn, but I know me. If I don't feel comfortable tieless, I will have that beautiful circa 1972 tie back around my neck.

i am gonna go buy a shirt that is worn with out ties. you know, like the one with the buttons on the collars. so that way the collar does not look like your gonna fly away with it.

no , inside sources have told me that they are very close to coming out with a uniform.much much better than previously announced.

Also, Westie male f/a's don't wear ties in the summer...just being consistant..I know we aren't use to that. B)

well, now it's official

IMHO - domestic should be "tieless" with a different shirt as should Hawaii and the Carribbean, HOWEVER, international should be a shirt and tie.

What about TransAtlantic flights.....tie or no tie? Well, we are already laughed at in Europe because NOBODY wears the right uniform pieces....ie., jackets! 🙄
