I live in Berks County, PA and I use PHL often. PHL is not on the flood list, but where I live is smack in the middle of it. What would US' policy be for me? I really don't want to tie up a phone line, cause it doesn't matter either way for me. ABE, AVP and MDT are all on the list. Just wondering how US would handle a situation like this.

Presuming you mean if you can't make a flight due to flooding, I'd hope they'd understand and make exceptions to the rules. No guarantees though since the rules seem to be airport-centric - if the airport (or city) your flight is to/from is operating relatively normally it's your problem.

That is basically what I was incline to think.

If flooding causes you travel problems there's no harm in calling and pleading your case. The worst result is the same as if you hadn't called.

AVP closed at 4pm yesterday. They may be using it as an evacuation center, as they did during the '72 Agnes flood. (I'm traveling and cannot keep up.)

I hope your house did not sustain any damage. My parents live 1 block from where CNN was broadcasting along the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre yesterday. There was seepage at the bridge a few blocks from there house, but we won't know if they got any water until they get back from Europe on Tuesday.

I went to high school with the guy that CNN interviewed on the banks of the Susquehanna in Wyoming Pa. As he said, we all remember the Agnes flooding in 1972....devastating! This one is actually worse. Cannot get hold of some family members in Wyoming valley now, but this is an infrastructure problem...not a threat to personal security. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the US Airways employees at AVP and all in Wyoming Valley.

From what I understand, Wyoming and Pittston do not have the flood protection system (flood gates and flood walls) that Wilkes-Barre and Kingston have --put in about 10 years ago for millions, and now paying off. In 1972, the dike broke where the river bends on Riverside Drive (a block from where I lived at the time), and in Forty-Fort. Consequently, W-B, Kingston and Forty-Fort got the brunt of it. This time, Pittston and Wyoming got it worse than in '72.

I hope that all US employees are safe, but with AVP's proximity to Pittston and Wyoming, I do fear for their safety and the condition of their homes.
