If you're so determined to call Obama a socialist, then clearly Reagan and Bush were FASCISTS!

By the way, Reagan's speech was very much about his agenda...including a part preaching from the pulpit of "tax cuts solve all problems" to school kids.

Also...If you...and so many other conservatives...actually had a pair you wouldn't be so damn scared of listening to a speech by the president. Your fear is showing!

You seem to be obsessed with a male's lower extremities ! You've refered to them in several post now ! Please get your mind out of the gutter, this is a political, not sexual debate !

President Obama's speech to public school children is "safe" for three reasons.

Here's why.

The very parents, who will keep lil' Johnny, and Mary from watching/hearing the POTUS's speech, will be the same ones, who will listen that day..Faithfully to

1. Beck
2. Limbaugh
3. Hannity

After all, ..Parents need Brainwashing too !

After watching the Sunday talk shows this morning, I was happy to hear complete consensus from the Republicans on this idiotic backlash.

It is so funny to hear some of the "Death Panel Conservatives" [I heard David Brooks call them that] call our democratically elected President a communist that wants to "brainwash our children" by giving a speech to the students of this country...At the same time sheltering the children from any idea that you may not like. I think those need to go back and study the definition of communism.

Tell them that they cannot watch his speech. Even better, keep him/her out of school so they cannot watch it.

I am sure that after after Mom and Dad have forbidden them from watching it they will never seek it out themselves...

You may even elevate our presidents status in your children's eyes.

Well done!

Since your not paying attention, this is what the original brewha was about.

PreK-6 Menu of Classroom Activities:
President Obama’s Address to Students
Across America
Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education

Before the Speech:
Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions.
...
Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?

During the Speech:

As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following: What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do? What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?
...
Extension of the Speech: Teachers can extend learning by having students:

Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.

They soon changed it however the damage has been done.

Schools in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Buffalo, Seattle, Eugene OR, Arlington NY and perhaps many others will not be open until after Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of students will not be subjected to the dear leader’s rant.

Yes, it does sound like a well-intended DOEd person thought that those suggestions would be a good idea. Personally, I would not have a problem with it, but I can see where some schools would not want the DOEd to dictate curriculum, However that is not what they did. They sent out some suggested ideas that teachers could follow.

That would all be well and good if that is all the people were talking about. I have seen the comments from some of Death Panel Right that just the fact that their children would be subject to listening to our President is taboo.

For you to call it "our dear leader's rant" belongs squarely in that description. Forbid all from hearing from our President and you make even more popular with our youth than he already his. After all, they were largely the reason for his successful campaign.

Maybe his speech will go something like this:

I am speaking of a new engagement in the lives of others, a new activism, hands-on and involved, that gets the job done. We must bring in the generations, harnessing the unused talent of the elderly and the unfocused energy of the young. For not only leadership is passed from generation to generation, but so is stewardship. And the generation born after the Second World War has come of age...

I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. We will work hand in hand, encouraging, sometimes leading, sometimes being led, rewarding. We will work on this in the White House, in the Cabinet agencies. I will go to the people and the programs that are the brighter points of light, and I will ask every member of my government to become involved. The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment, and a patriotism that finds its expression in taking part and pitching in.

Call it a overall lack of confidence in the messiah. Is has proven himself to be a phony and people have grown outraged by him and his administrations racist radical socialist tactics.

You glossed over the little speech that I posted above buy that guy calling for new, hands on youth activism in community organizations. That guy should be vilified.

Oh that's right, his name is not Obama...it is George H.W. Bush.

Surely that would have brought a firestorm of Nazi/Hitler youth comparisons from you and your ilk.

Except for one thing..it didnt!

Try this again and read real slowly for maximum understanding and comprehension.

Yeah, the damage was done becasue too many uptight people overreacted.

And you sit at the dinner table patiently trying to undo the damage as little Becky and Johnny keep insisting that President Obama told them they have to do what he said...as you turn blue in the face....good idea.

That is pure paranoia at its lowest.

Do you really think Obama had a nazi youth indoctrination speech planned and canned it because the Death Panel Right complained?

This is one of the most ridiculous things that has ever been discussed. Our President wants to give kids a positive message and somehow he is the Antichrist.

You really need some new material.

New Material

Original 'lesson' that caused the furor- pre k-6th grade

Original 'lesson' that caused the furor 7-12th grade

Obama recants from original.....

The Obama administration is rethinking its course recommendations for students ahead of President Obama's address to the the nation's schoolchildren next week, rewriting its suggestions to teachers for student assignments on how to "help the president."

"That's where they kind of got into a slippery spot. Federal statute denies any authority to the Department of Education to provide any kind of curriculum or anything that can be passed down to the state, and that's part of the statute forming the Department of Education. So they kinda got themselves into this mess because they didn't really understand some of the key legal roles or the dos and don'ts at the federal Department of Ed," she said.

See what 146 days experience in government gets you? :mf_boff:

It is all education based? What's the BFD? Not like anyone will be paying attention to it any way. I remember the Reagan speech in school. One big snooze fest. The teacher was asking questions and only my self and 2 others IIRC were answering.

I read the speech and I read the curriculum and there is nothing political in either of them. Change the name of the POTUS to anyone in the past and nothign changes.

A lot of school kids are back in their house by 3PM, where they listen(consciously or sub consciously) to Hannity from 3-6, spewing his BILE, ..BUT..the same parents who turned ON said radio, have kept their kids from hearing the POTUS.

Now THIS explanation I can't Wait to hear !!
