It does and it runs BOTH ways. Ever walked through the front door of an establishment with a sign on the door that says "No Dogs or Indians Allowed"? I have and it's as distasteful then (1974) as it is now. Much iif the hatred towards the Indians is an end result of the perception that Indians get a "free ride" from the government. This notion goes back to the days when those tribal members congregated around the forts looking for "Free Stuff"Ms Tree said:You don't think disdain and hate for Native Americans has a y thing to do with the failure of the programs 'designed' to help them?
The programs designed by the white man are for the white man. They are not and have not been designed with the Native Americans in mind. They were nomadic non - Christians (I believe the term was heathens) so they were completely different from us.
I was less afraid in "da hood" in Camden or Philadelphia then I was driving through Pine Ridge. The hatred of the white man is so thick it cuts like a knife. I had some real doubts if I would get out alive.
