Obama's War on Women

Calls of Uncle Tom come from the left for anyone of color even looking to the right.

I love that video.  Very reflective of the GOP.  I wonder if Mia noticed it.  You obviously did not.

Yeah, that's not working out so well.

Blacks are increasingly moving into the GOP, particularly those in their 40's who went to college, and have moved on from the Endless Cup of Sorrow that the civil rights era leaders like to promote. When you go to cities like Milwaukee & Chicago, more and more have come to realize that it's the Democrats who have failed them over the past 20 years:

May be 1 or 2 will show up at the GOP convention next time.

Quick guide to making a documentary or viral political video:
Step one: fine an outlier
Step two: point your camera at it

As a member of the millennial generation I can say that the government is going to look a lot different in 15 or 20 years, and unless the Republicans seriously overhaul their entire platform, they are going to be as impotent as my friend's uncle Charlie

Republicans don't need to change the platform. They just need to change their image in the black community.

Consider this from black conservative activist Stephen Lackey:

The average Black Christian attends a church that teaches against abortion, against mind-altering drugs, against same-sex marriage, and advocates for families that mimic biblical standards. So the question becomes, why are we not GOP. It goes back to the central theme that African-Americans equate anything Republican with racist old white men working against us. It’s unfortunate because the Black church, which is one of our strongest foundations, accepts a conservative agenda and accepts faith-based funds from mostly conservative organizations to create programs to help our communities. Socially, a large portion of the African-American community is Republican. I know, it’s shocking.
The GOP could sell out their principles to attract new voters, or they could try to sell new voters on their principles.

I prefer the latter, and do believe that's where things are for the most part heading. Electing candidates like Mia Love is a good start.

And that is why the GOP will become irrelevant.  Sixty percent of republican youth support marriage equality.  They are much more socially liberal.  Since the GOP gave  up on fiscal responsibility they GOP has very little to offer except out dated beliefs.

If the data is right that 60% of Republican under age 30 support marriage equality, then what makes it so impossible to believe there won't be a shift in the platform?

It's already happening in Illinois & Nevada. Both Clark County and the Nevada state GOP approved party platforms that no longer include marriage or abortion. Instead, they're focusing on issues which are more likely resound with those in the center: smaller government, lower taxes, and fiscal responsibility.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a few more states shift this year. The moves will no doubt anger a few of the religious conservatives, but not enough to keep them away from the polls.

Something as simple as a pivot towards supporting family values (e.g. importance of a two-parent household) instead of just marriage could be huge.

If abortion and gay marriage do get taken off the table on a wider basis, then liberals have that much less to use to polarize and demonize conservatives with...

Saul Alinsky’s 12 Rules for Radicals

* RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

When you make up your mind you let us know OK?

The GOP could sell out their principles to attract new voters, or they could try to sell new voters on their principles.

You seem to think the only principles the GOP has in their platform are to ban abortion and gay marriage.

That's what the Alinskyites on MSLSD will have you believe, but on the Top 10 list of things really important to conservatives, those are probably #19 and #24, if not lower.

The only reason they get any attention is because they're lightning rods, and it's far easier to attack issues of faith than it is for Liberals to have to answer for the reality of what 6 years under Obama has resulted in, or how unaccountable the DOJ, IRS, NSA, etc. have been with regard to privacy and retaliation against those the Administration disagrees with.

At some point, enough people will see thru the facades of socialism, and realize that it ain't working for them anymore. It may not be this year, it may not be until after the country goes further into debt and can't lie their way out of it.

But it will happen. And when it does, I'm guessing that the issues of importance then are going to reflect that Top 10 of things that conservatives currently see as most important.

Tell that to Fox News then, because the only stories I ever see getting reported are of the "culture war" ilk

Brings in the elderly viewership (as reflected in their TV ratings) but only turns the younger generation off.

You appear to be very out of touch, E, but that should be no surprise. Younger generations generally see conservatives as woefully out of touch, just like their parents and grandparents. And as a member of the young generation I can speak with great authority that they are not buying into the Republican ideology, socially, fiscally, or otherwise, and that is going to hurt them badly sooner rather than later. Really the only power the Republicans still have is in the House thanks to all the gerrymandering-- that is single-handedly keeping them in power.

LOL . . who are you kidding? You're just another one of the self-absorbed smart power progressives trying to sell your stupidity to those of us that have it all over you. I speak with great authority when I say you don't know jacksh!t.

Isn't it time for you to log off and sign back in as Ms Tree now?
