I am one of those "bottom of the barrell" new hires in CLT assigned to the bag room.
I am sorry I ever took this position. This has got to be the most screwed up company I have ever seen or worked for.
The morale appears to be rock bottom. Employees mainly the hardest workers are treated like crap by the leads. Bags are missed by the hundreds & it appears to this newbee that management has no clue.
I will be leaving very soon as this company is in sad shape. They do not care about the employee or psgrs.
Like I said I am new & this is what I see.
Do I have it right ?

No, you do not have it right. Why wait. Leave already.

I would be a good idea to give management your recommendations, because they haven't got it right with the bag issues.

Perhpaps some innovative insight would help.

.
One of the most honest posts I have seen lately. Priceless.

However, you should have worked for the old "Useless Air"...especially at one of the smaller stations (the ones outsourced). Being in a 'hub'...you have a secure job!!! You should be happy! Good pay...get to fly for nothing...great benefits...etc. Dont' tell me things haven't improved SOME since merger (and my retirement! 🙄 )!

Actually its quite hard to make a blanket statement like he doesnt have it right. Local management and their management sytle have a lot to do with whether someone thinks things are going well or screwed up. Some of us that have been here are just used to things being the way they are.
We had a new hire that went to talk to the manager and he made the comment about her having a lot of complaints. She said she was sorry she hasnt been here for years and know things are screwed up like they are, but from a newbie, things can look chaotic and out of control at times. At least she took the time to speak to the manager about it.
And just because things might be running smooth in one dept or city doesnt mean its like that systemwide.

I was once told long ago you can either work for the idiot or be the idiot. I have opted to be the idiot.

Observations of a 20 year hire ... your right, this place is screwed up!

Don't feel too bad, Leroy. Some of us shake our heads daily when we see how bad it has become in CLT and PHL. But don't fret, because you can always enjoy laying out in the heat of the ramp while watching those groovy Heritage planes roll by while watching your new IMakeUSFly video as you sip on warm Kool-Aid. 😀

Speaking of the Heritage planes, when I commute to work bi-weekly, I hear comments from customers such as, "Wow, that plane must be really old!"

Also, CLT is know to us pilots as "Hillbilly Philly". That is an indication of how bad the operations side of CLT has become.

I wouldn't worry about what the customers say about the four heritage planes. It's a very small percentage of the fleet and they weren't done for the customers anyway. It was done for the employees.
