So, you came back (at least under this name) to complain and post the same old stuff. Big deal.

Well Bob we agree that if the IAM walked at NW the effects would be immediate.

Not quite. Any effect would be immediate and would taper off rapidly over time, IF NWA did not have anything setup, my guess is they do, otherwise the effect wopuld be minimal. The IAM is the most vulnerable group because they could set things up unnoticed. If the IAM had gone first AMFA would have honored their picket lines, that would have added to the impact and would stifle the companys ability to rebound.

The cutoff of cash flow would be instantaneous and all the airlines are tight on cash now.

Well in order to try and bust AMFA they already spent a couple of hundred million $.

So the questions would be, How quick could NW get back to schedule if the IAM walked? And how much cash would they burn before they can? The pilots at NW would not walk for themselves let alone anyone else because they are in a lose lose situation. IF they walk NW goes Ch.11 and they wave goodbye to their pensions for sure just as UA and US pilots lost their pensions in Ch.11. They will capitulate as long as they see a ray of hope of preventing their pensions from going to the PBGC.

So with the pilots ready to go and the planes ready to go with outside contractors made up of locally hired scabs, and the scabs helping to load on OT they may not miss a beat.

As for contracting out cabin, yes AA did that but it was an orderly transition. What AA doesn't realize is the amount they save in wages they are losing in "a sudden decrease in cabin supplies inventory."

Well I'm not arguening the merits of contracting out but to the bean counters it "saves" money. By the way it would take a lot of rolls of toilet paper to offset the costs of six weeks paid vacation. The transition of other work groups could be just as orderly.

When AA got EAL's MIA hub and routes they needed to hire hundreds of people very quickly. They hired a large number of ex-EAL in MIA who were already trained and some of them believe it or not was in their late 50s and early 60s. They needed to get people fast to work the newly acquired routes.

And there are a lot of laid off airline workers out there now too.

I certainly hope the IAM folks at NW are preparing themselves appropriately for what may lie ahead.

I wish them well. Maybe when things settle down they will hold their so called leaders accountable and go Teamsters, along with the rest of us so we can actually put industrial unionism to the test, we know what a failure business unionism has been.

even some of you have tried to be involved w/TWU but, have failed.

Actually some of the people who post here criticizing the TWU ARE CURRENTLY TWU Officers, for obvious reasons they use aliases.

so, you try something else amfa (PUKE) a "stand alone" ASSOciation well, the question still remains after all the years y'all put in @ AA why you still here/there/ where ever you are? why not msp/dtw? southwest/alaska?

Why should we leave? We have the right to try and bring a new union here, are you saying that we dont have that right?

i tried to get a UNION in the place i used to work. the people didn't want it. i left!!

You are a quitter, are you proud of that?

another place i worked they threw out a union & wanted another one. sounded wrong to me so , i left!! started @ AA, UNION... good one ....solid...united... i have a voice & wasn't afraid to use it & when things don't/ didn't sound right to me

Now we know what a BS artist you are.

i asked questions

Like what "should I go faster, harder"?

been away from this site for a while & when i come back to read some it is still the same

Let me guess Detox or jail for beating your wife?

This scab scraper can't be for real! This clown is straight out of a Walgreens commercial. He must live in Perfect!
What a fool! He's happy to ..just have a job brother... I'm sure scabs justify their dastardly deeds in the same manner.
What a good corporate slave. I'm sure his TWU/AA masters are proud!

NW has gone on strike and this thread has gone awry from the original intent. Please continue any NW discussions on the Northwest Boards. This thread will be closed later tonight. Please feel free to start another thread regarding the latest discussion as it pertains to AA if you wish.
Thanks.
