Somebody told me that the New US Airways has applied for an Open Skies Permit that would give us access to 33 more countries in ASIA, Africa, New Zealand and India. This person said that it was in an Aviation Today Publication or something like that, but I can't seem to find this info anywhere online.

Anybody know? I think this would be good for our airline ! 🙂

The A350 is not even built yet and won't be in revenue service until the year 2011, as US is going to be the launch customer.

i know that A350 isnt built yet
but have order for 20 of them
so they are gonna go somewhere

That is six years from now, the year 2011, you don't even know if US will be around then or even take delivery of those unbuilt planes.

Another thing, I have never heard of an open skies permit. Open Sky Aviation Agreements allow carriers to fly between the countries with very little restrictions, then there are bilateral agreements which have more restrictions.

And if US wants to fly to a country they have to get permission from both governments, I would say this is probably a code share with Star Alliance Carriers which requires DOT permission.

I just searched Aviation Weekly and www.atwonline.com along with old yahoo airline press releases and see nothing. Will keep looking for any info.

Always a beaming ray of sunshine, aren't you!

I would say it's a codeshare because it's unlikely that LCC would simultaneously start new service to three separate continents, and I don't think our 330's have the range? And isn't there some sort of a rule that would apply to AUK, at the least, requiring A/C to have at least three engines if you are over so much of a water expanse? My pilot friend from Austrailia told me that a few years back. Maybe a pilot could answer that one. But in any event, it's not likely we'd see this kind of instant expansion.

I believe Thailand just signed an open skies agreement with the USA, not sure if the 350 has the range to do Bangkok non stop, if not, stop in Taipei like everyone else.

I believe Thailand just signed an open skies agreement with the USA,.......

And that's the crux of it - airlines don't get open skies "permits", nations negotiate open skies treaties. Once an open skies treaty is in place, US or any other airline can serve a route between the US and the other country in compliance with any "fine print" in the treaty.

Hey Mr. 700...........you are just a joy to read...........such a positive outlook on life.......
🙂

Is this what you are talking about?

Europe's open skys future......or some thing like that

I hear 700 is offering to haunt houses this halloween.....

I would bet the costume he wears has yellow rubber boots, rubber gloves, white coverall suit and head gear with a clear face sheild.

With a button that says: IAM your worst nightmare! 😛h34r:

How much do you want to bet?

I don't wear that at anywhere, as I don't do that.

Keep Trying?
