What's new

Oprah charters 5 767's today

So much for customer satisfaction.
It has nothing to do with customer satisfaction. It is the law and the F?A contract. it has to be offered in seniority order. any other way would be a violation of the APFA contract and probably a discrimination suit

Most charter flights are done by supervisors and friends of the office. In this case there were too many opening to cover that way and was included on the open time.

MAC, and CRAF are the only operations Contractual and done in seniority order

I am not sure about the "phantom" J/S, but #9 and 10 are usually a double J/S. So in the manual it might "look" like one when in fact it is for 2. There has been 10 J/S's on the 767 for quite some time, it is nothing new. There are 11 working F/A's and 1 "on-board coordinator" for lack of a better term. All 12 are paid positions. These trips, once again, were not put into open time for anyone to take. They were bid positions, which could be traded, and VOLUNTEERS from the charter volunteer list. Volunteer positions, could not be traded, I tried. As for the extra people over and above the 10 J/S's, they will just sit in the crew rest seats for T/O and landing. Yes, we still get the contractual crew rest.

IORFA, thanks for the answer. If your reference to the "phantom" jumpseat is in response to my post and question, that extra jumpseat occurs on only about 6 or 7 or the former TW 757s. Some have a single jumpseat next to the 3L door and one next to the 3R door. Others have only a 3R jumpseat.

I remember when 10 was the norm on transcons. We used to get a number 11 when they had those easy domestic speaker sequences.

The phantom jumpseat issue has nothing to do with the 767 and somehow or other keeps popping up on the 767 thread.

There was a time when we got the number 11 on international flights all the time. Your "jumpseat" was the passenger seat 21B (or something similar) right next to the old business class galley back when the configurations were a bit different. Help me out, Mike(y)..do you remember that?

I seem to recall that at well, having been a control agent and having to delete the seat off the map in NCI...

ding ding ding, you are 100% correct. It was number 11 and they sat in 21B.

Bonus round, Any other A/C have F/A's in passengers seats and not jumpseats?
