Could you clarify what this means? I have a very good friend who just interviewed at one of these stations for Continental Express. What does "bid out" mean? Isn't Express Jet wholly owned or something close to that? Thanks for any info!!!!

Not to be insensitive, but employees who work at these stations (above) are being let go. Their work is being farmed out. I know it is for the ground employees (ramp) but haven't heard about the agents. Another poster in this thread said it included everyone. XJT (ExpressJet), from what I've been told, is too expensive for mainline CAL to keep around, at least the employees. XJT is non-wholly owned but they fly under Continental Express and they have their "branded" flights, too. I know a guy that works at XJT here and he is applying at other carriers. I can't remember the effective date but it's within the next month or two. ANy more info, PM me and I'll be happy to answer..or find out for you, anyways.

They're totally independent, and have been since April 2002 when they were spun off from CO.

XJT's been under a lot of pressure in the past year... Oil hasn't helped, but in spite of that, they've managed to do a slightly better job of going it alone than Indy Air did. They've had the advantage of picking up new flying for UA, DL, and AA since losing a huge chunk of the flying they were doing for CO.

If Mesa collapses, XJT stands to gain the most, and it will probably come at the expense of the private label flying.

According to another thread Comair will handle ground for CO Express at TYS, I don't know if they wil handle Customer Service and Ramp or just Ramp. It's also rumored that Comair will handle UA Express at TYS also. Since Comair is not at AVL, any idea who will handle things there? Thanks for any info!!!! Doesn't it seem strange that CO is giving DL access to its passenger info?

Throwing bags in the bin of an airplane isn't exactly allowing access to passenger info.

However, DL may be requiring the ramp rats to read info off every bag and writing it down. This sounds more like it

Passenger info access I was refering to would come from Comair employees working in CO's res system at the ticket counter. If Comair is handling ramp functions only, who will be manning the ticket counter?

Like most other airlines that have others handle their "ground" operations for them, there are sure to be some sort of confidentiality agreements. These agreement probably do not trickle don't to the peon's, but the managers surely are aware of these. Any misuse of information by Comair or DL would end up in the courts with some sort of monetary penalty. All one has to do is look at Hawaiian and Mesa and the big bucks Mesa has to pay. I don't think DL would be that stupid.
