Painting of AC

INCORRECT: US Airways (aka America West) painted many AWA aircraft just so that they could retire them in about a year after that.

N914AW and N913AW are some examples:

Arriving on Runway 21 as flt#USA9254 MCN-GYR / December 2008

The above aircraft was painted in US colors in mid 2007 just so that it could be placed in the desert for display after the summer of 2008 with a spanking new and shiny livery.

While they started laying off people in 2007/08 in PHX they were painting planes just for fun.

Look at the old HP birds, not bad for being former Eastern planes and some of the first 757's built, N913AW=N517EA, N914AW= N518EA

As for the Empire livery, I had read that DP said that US Airways did not aquire Empire and thats why they didn't do a throwback for them...It's to bad since there are alot of Empire folks still working...

Well, then. With that logic there will only be three (in my youthful memory!) retro liveries at the New American: AirCal, TWA, and US Airways. There may be others from ancient times, but AA is not acquiring AWA, PSA, or Piedmont, either. "NO RETRO FOR YOUSE!"

Aren't there still some 75's in the old US livery?

Regarding the new AA livery I don't think it will be around long. The feedback is so horrible about it that I imagine one of the first things to be done will be to slow down or stop te repainting until the merger is blessed by the DOJ. In the meantime I see a new livery also being worked on, probalby similar to or inspired by the US one but with a decent eagle.
One can only hope!

At this point, we can only hope that they slam on the brakes.

Things don't seem to be changing at AA, which leads me to believe that the logo is going to stay. Just wondering, didn't US management have a say about the logo, I mean, we can blame AA for the greyhound, but didn't somebody from US wink at the idea? If not, why the hell isn't it scrapped yet???
I have often wondered why they didn't do one for Empire and Mohawk, as they were both pretty neat liveries in their day.
The other airline that you are referring to would be Lake Central.

Empire and Mohawk, if I'm not mistaken, both originated from the Utica area. I like the Mohawk, but Empire was rather bland.

Here's an original that you left out...Will there be an AA retro?

Empire used to hub in your neck of the woods....My wife and her two friends were hired by Empire within 5 minutes of each other, so their senority conversation used to be rather comical....

How was that determined? Usually people hired on the same day, their seniority is based on the first letter of their last name.

Not really sure, maybe by employee number? She's the only one left, one retired the other went to ICE...

The same hire date issue was determined by your SSN the last I knew.
As far as the new AA paint, Parker can't do anything about it until the deal closes in the 3Q of this year.

Would this be possible on a plane?

I doubt it on the air speeds alone and the leaking of various fluids would eat it away and who knows what effect deicing fluid would have on it.

I would say No as well. Remember the Star Decals ??? They got beat up quickly

I doubt this as well, not on any technical grounds but because if those wraps were feasible half our planes would be sporting Verizon and Coca-Cola "liveries" by now.

It would be nice to see US or actually any US airline think out of the box and come up with a sharp paint scheme...US carriers compared to foreign carriers have very boring liveries....
