I swear I had no idea ....

Can we have a show of hands who believes this BS. Too be honest, I could care less if she did or did not know (similar to Reagan and his band of thieves). You were elected and you are responsible for the actions taken in your name by those people who you choose to surround your self with. If she did not know, she damn well should have. Personally, I call BS.

How many times are we going to let elected officials say they did not know what their subordinates (or in this case spouse) are doing in their name?

You cannot hold someone criminally accountable for the actions of others of which you had no knowledge.

Scenario #1
Suppose my husband cheats on me. I tell my bodyguard "hey, go kill him and his whore...make sure they suffer" and then he does...I'm responsible for that. I put him directly up to it.

Scenario #2
Now, suppose my husband cheats on me. I confide it in my bodyguard and after an emotional conversation with him about how distraught I am, suppose my bodyguard then becomes enraged and goes out, on his own, and kills my husband and his mistress, I'm not accountable for that.

There's a fine line here, but she had no knowledge and no involvement.

Not the same thing. You are talking about a crime of passion verses a thought out, lengthy endeavor. The CEO of a company who hires a CFO to manage his companies money is responsible for the actions of his CFO becasue the CEO should be monitoring the actions of his CFO and not letting him/her do as he chooses.

IIRC you and your husband own a company. Also, IIRC you have employees. Do you think your clients are goig to go after you or the employee if they make some sort of screw up while on the job? They are your employees and you are responsible for their actions. If one of your employees go and attacks or rapes one of your clients, and you did not doa back ground check on them, who do you think will be in trouble along with the employee?

If you hired you body guard your self, I hope for your sake you did a very though back ground check on someone who is authorized to carry a weapon and works for you. If you hired him/her through an agency, then you are probably off the hook and the agency better hire a lawyer.

Bottom line is if you are the boss who pays the bills, you are responsible for your actions. Reagan was an elected official. Whether or not he knew what North and his band of merry men were doing or not is not relevant. He is the boss and he should have been watching out for the country. I believe he even took and oath saying as much. I am fully aware there are others who have acted as poorly but this one came to mind first.

Secondly, personal life is different from private life. There are different standards at least in my book. I do not view it the same if my wife goes out and knocks someone off becasue they hurt me as I would if someone in the NSA snoops around in someones accounts because they pissed off his boss. There are checks and balances in government and corporations. No such level of security exists in the typical family.

I disagree. I know exactly what I'd do if my husband cheated on me. Assuming I choose a criminal act to resolve the matter, I can assure you that it would definitely be a crime in the first degree and not the second. No passion whatsoever...just taking out the trash.

Again, the same standards do not apply to government that apply to a private citizen.

If an accountant for a company swindles its employees, the company will be held liable. The accountant may face trial, but the company will be held liable as well.

The company I used to work for had all of us go through harassment training/sensitivity courses. This was at the time when there were a rash of lawsuits going through the courts for sexual/hate related crimes. I am relatively certain that my company (well over 50,000 employees world wide) did not care about my well being or that of my fellow employees. They were making me take this class so that if I went out and harassed someone, they could try and claim that "hey, we made a good faith effort" but OH well... The the woman I harassed can in any way shape or form prove that my boss knew I was harassing her and did nothing to stop it then the company will be on the hook for my actions regardless of any class I may have taken.

They might be financially liable, but the CEO wasn't personally responsible and did not oversee the person swindling, nor did they order it. The buck stops there, but no executive knows everything about their operation...every detail. It's not humanly possible. You place trust in people to do their jobs as directed. If they break your rules, that's their fault, not the CEO's.

The company is responsible for the actions of the employee to the extent that they hired the untrustworthy person, but if there were no indications prior that the person was a thief, the company is in the clear.

You may wish to look at this link as IIRC you have employees who drive your vehicles. It speaks directly to your liability and what I am referring too.

Employer liability

If one of your employees is involved in an accident while driving a company vehicle and a victim of the accident sues, the victim's attorney will most likely make one or more of the following arguments for holding you liable:.....

Palin abused power.

"Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report by a bipartisan panel that investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain."

It looks like the wunderkind of Alaska is not quite as pure as the freshly fallen snow...

Maybe more than 2 meetings and a a roll of the dice would have been in order for the selection of a Vice Presidential candidate.

You guys are going about your arguments' in the wrong way.

My wife could not possibly hold meetings in MY office for any reason without my knowledge. I would assume the governor's office would be a little more secure than mine.

Besides, I can't believe a husband would take such action without discussing at some length with the wife. Even if the wife says something to the efect of " as long as I don't know..." the plan is implied.
