I heard from a captain it was 13% for pilots and sick list goes away and is replaced with 5 'personal' days a year. Heard the same for flight attendants with an 18% cut in pay.

Is it just me or do those numbers seem to be backwards? 😉

The race to the bottom continues.

Please....no discussion of percentages until you have the REAL facts. Until then you are only speculating. Everyone will know soon enough.

The should have just asked for the 40% up front. If you cut the tail of the dog off and then come back a second time to cut a little more it may bite you

Talked to ALPA MEC Chaiman this weekend. It was stated that no specifics have been decided upon yet, so anything you hear is just rumor.

The company is taking it's time. Then they will say they couldn't get the cuts and have the judge do it.

Just cut now and get it over with. Get rid of maint. When you have a few lawn darts maybe they will see their mistakes. The suspense is the worst of it all.

May all of them burn in HELL for destroying a great airline and the thousands of lives affected by it.

Frankly, I don't want to. I'm trying to get a discussion going about what people have heard. If you don't want to participate, then don't.

There is always an element of truth in rumor...Oh, I almost forgot, this captain also said there was no talk of tying the amount of paycuts with the price of oil in case it goes down as you said in a previous post (I believe it was you wasn't it, if not my apologies). The concessions are being figured on a projected price of $70/bbl.

After they get what they want in the way of wage cuts (however achieved via negotiation/plagiarizing USAir)...I can see this now...in an uncommon fit of genius, they'll raise the fares and reward themselves with a bonus for coming up with the 'raise the fares' idea/program in the first place. I can also see them hiring in the coming months: 24 more VPs in charge of self service kiosks, or in technical terms, "VP in charge of Customer Technological Enhancement". Not to mention the 18 "Regional Directors of Plane Repair Monitoring (that We hope doesn't need monitoring) of Affairs", 32 "Manpower Efficiency Managers", 19 "Revenue Displacement VPs" (former Arthur Andersen CPA's only need apply) who are in charge of diverting revenues from UAL to Ted, UAX and other carriers, and finally, 1 "Anal Retention VP". No surprise there...I just hope the VP in charge of ORD's parking lot isn't affected, severely critical personnel like that should be left alone.

Spacewaitress-

Everything in your posts is COMPLETE speculation. The 13% figure that you heard isn't even a rumor. It is simply an ESTIMATION as to how much we would all (labor) have to give to come up with the 500M in labor cuts that management publicly announced a month or two ago. Further, since oil has gone up since then, I would GUESS that they'll be looking for more than 500M.

I also doubt (we're speculating, right?) that concessions will be based on 70 bucks a barrel for oil. Just pulling numbers off the top of my head, I think labor costs UAL about 4.5 billion/year currently (those damn greedy pilots I'm sure are most of that). Anyway, every one dollar increase in the cost of oil adds about 60M to UAL's yearly costs. Further, management announced about a month ago they were looking for 500M in labor cost cuts and around 650M in non-labor costs. So if they were basing these up and coming concessions on 70 dollar oil, that means they'd be asking for 1.2 Billion in cuts on top of the 500M they said they wanted when oil was 50 bucks a barrel. 1.7B in cuts from labor? That would be 38% across the board for all employees. Anything is possible I guess, but doubtful.

38%? Damn! And I thought our 21% was bad. My thoughts and prayers are with all my UAL buddies. Good luck everyone!

NO!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!

I AM NOT SAYING WE'RE GOING TO BE TAKING A 13% PAYCUT, OR A 38% PAYCUT OR ANY % PAYCUT!!!! The only think we know for sure is that about a month ago, management/banks we're going to be looking for around 500M. That's all anyone knows until they tell us otherwise!
