PFAA has lost yet another battle and was denied "ex officio" status on the creditor's committee. Time for PFAA to make the right decision and get the needed help by merging with AFA-CWA.

No,the NWA flight attendants need to do what their counterparts at United,USAIR, and AA failed to do and that is walk off the job. NWA management has no intention of negotiating in good faith with it's F/A's and it doesn't matter which union is representing them the results will be the same. NWA F/A's have nothing to lose by striking, because NWA management wants their F/A's to work for minimum wages and benefits. What sort of a job is that? There are other similar "service" jobs out there that pay better and have better benefits than what EVIL NWA management wants to pay so what are NWA F/A's waiting for?

I don't see where that would have done anything but bought this action sooner.

If they walked off the job right now they would be replaced by morning.

Do you think AA would hire them?

"Replaced by morning?" I doubt that seriously. If the F/A's at Northwest walked today, Northwest would probably have to be liquidated. Yes, some people consider that "suicide", but it is better to go down fighting than live as a slave or as a scab.

Maybe not replaced by morning but given enough time (ie the mechanics) they would be replaced. They need to not give the company as much advanced notice as the mechanics did.

NWA expects a walk out and is prepared for it. They have already had plenty of notice.
Where are they hiding all these thousands of replacements? I can remember when the AA flight attendants walked and AA tried to replace them. AA had to interview, give physicals, measure them for uniforms, and train them on the different planes and procedures. I believe it takes about a month to train a new F/A (Some F/A please correct me if I am wrong.) And AA tried to replace them in much better economic times and had significant amounts of cash. How many new hires did NW train recently only to lay them off? I do not believe it was 10,000.

10,000? I didn't realize there was that many. I am beginning to see some of the same F/A's on a somewhat regular basis. I really don't know a lot about the F/A side of the industry. 10,000 though seems like an awful lot to me though. Does it really take that many or are they also overstaffed like the mechanics were? Does the F/A unions impose the same restrictions on companies that forces them to overstaff? Here on the mechanics side I'm having a hard time figuring out what so many mechanics did here.

Airlines don't hire flight attendants. They offer them 6 to 8 weeks of unpaid training. Successful completion of training will land you a job offer when an opening becomes available. Most times they are hiring as they need people. In this case NWA simply trained or is training people to have ready a large pools of qualified FA's should they need.

TWA even required you to prepay for training. Was something like 2,800 dollars and if you were not hired after training you got something like a 300 dollar refund. Someone from TWA can give numbers and how that whole program worked, much better than I.

NWA would be screwed! They only have 1700 SCAB flight attendants hired, trained and ready to go. These flight attendants didn't get any service training, just emergency training.

How would they operate worldwide with only 1700 flight attendants? This would mean they would only have around 566 flight attendants on a daily basis to staff their narrow body aircraft.

As an answer to all of you I am , or was a Replacement Attendant. We received 3 weeks of intensive training, many "washed out'. We were paid well for our time in training along with a "bonus". A couple weeks later we were deployed to various places ,paid for out time, and then sent home to wait. Some of us were "hired", but following the Chapter 11 proceedings we were relaesed. Some us went on to other employment, others still looking . According to "replacementfa" some were asked if they would be available(I wasn't asked) if the FA's sick out or strike. As a note I did go to class with "replacement FA" his actions in class, and at our deployment were not too profesional. As for myself I always wanted to be a FA and saw this as a way "IN". Strikes , and labor actions are frightening what I see of most of you is professionalism, don't jepordise that, and all your hard work. Bad feelings will always linger after such actions.
Folks one of these days after all the insanity has ended I hope to fly with you folks. This is and will be my ticket to a dream, and not a nightmare. Wish you all the best, and this whole nightmare ends .
