What's new

PHL-BGI

Aloha does CA to HI in a 737 ETOPS, with a normal configuration.

Can the A321 not be EOW equipped or did US just choose it that way?

Airbus needs to make a 'sturdier" A321 an A322? that could really compete with a 757. Better wing, little more capacity, range, ETOPs for transatlantic, be perfect for US.

The A321 can be equipped for EOW, cost consideration for US Airways, since they were not delivered as EOW aircraft.

A321 can not be compared to B757, agree. But a new wing would do the trick...🙂 Of course, that's not going to happen.

yes the 321 can be flown (and is scheduled) to fly to some destinations in the Caribbean out of CLT. Out of PHL it is much more difficult due to the land route you have to take. While equipment subbing to an A321 out of PHL is a possibility, we do not schedule the A321 to fly a typical overwater route.

I don't believe we ever scheduled the A321 to St. Kitts either. It may have been an equipment sub out of CLT, but I believe there are take off and landing limits in SKB due to the mountain at the end of the runway....can't remember if it is SKB or one of the other small islands.

321 could never do what the 757 can do---one leg of which was ----Orange Co CA to PIT --182 folks--packs off--flaps 20 takeoff with an alternate---off a 5600 ft RWY.

Now that's an airplane!
