PHX Airport Expansion Angers US and WN

Wow, it looks like the HP side of things may become even more unprofitable--thankfully, they have the East side's routes and biz customers to bring in the money to keep the company profitable.

I don't mean to get off track here, but it looks like the same thing is going on in LAX:

Airlines Oppose Terminal Change at LAX

Prior to the merger, there had been a rumor (for, like, six years) that US Airways was going to move to Terminal 6 at LAX. That would make connections with United's Asia flights more convenient for passengers.

I wonder if the new rent hikes at Terminal 1 will resurrect that idea.

At that time it was just the US flights that would have moved to T6. With the merger and HP's flights added in am not sure if UA would have room for a combined US now?

Also if US leaves T1 it allowes WN to expand significantily at LAX, something I am under the impression WN wants badly.

I read in the LA news last year that the City of LA was trying to get United to give up some of it's leases at T6 &7 so that other airlines at other terminals could move and reduce the overcrowding at 1 & 3. United wanted to move all express ops at these unused gates. So there was a deadlock, obviously United got it's way in the BK Court
