Pilot Recalls 2007

Recalls always good news!
However in perspective, I believe around 250 pilots leave in 2007 due to age 60 requirements. With staffing of 190 needed I see a need for quite a few more. History is not in favor of pilot staffing reurning to any where near the numbers of past.

This is only for the first six months, hopefully more to come.

OK, now for the fun part.

If every one of the next 274 furloughees accepted recall, what would be the hire date of the most junior one?

(include J4Js, those who "resigned", etc.)

Any news on the fight to change the age extention? Is the fight retroactive for these guys?

It is my understanding that should the age be changed to 65, those pilots younger then 65 will be given the opportunity to re-apply for employment and be put on the bottom of the list as a new hire. They will not assume their pervious seniority.

Bud,

A policy like that is just pure crap. Seniority should be original DOH......period.

Don't blame me. That's what was explained to me by Congressman Jimmy Duncan former head of the Aviation Sub Committee. Hell, I'm 62. If I go back, say 2 months, maybe more cause I'm as dumb as a stone, of going through ground school, about 2 more months getting through sim. I'm not as sharp as I once was so figure on 100 hours of IOE then 6 months or more right seat if I don't doze off between V1 and Vr. So, I figure I've wasted 8 months or so. Now that being said, figure on some sick days, lack of enthusiam etc, I figure they might get one good year out of me ,tops. If I had to go to the bottom, I'm not even considering going back.

I can't believe ALPA doesn't have a clause in the contract that covers pilots returning after age 60, should the FAA ever change that reg. (FAT FAT chance, by the way).

Lighten Up! Re-read what CaptBud330 said...it was a joke!

I heard some B6 guys say that they can't wait to come back to US and other pilots are waiting to see what happens with DL.

I'll probably stick with PSA for a while. The pay is much better.

(Pretty &%$*#@ sad, huh?)

Classic. Truly a classic post. L M A O. Especially the "dumb as a stone" part - that's a funny simile. Then the 100 hours of IOE and dozing off bit, lack of enthusiasm...CaptBud may be a little past prime but his creative juices are alive and well!
