Pilot seniority arbitration award is out

=================================================

That was all Mr. Wolf's plan to enhance shareholder value and his value as well.

I think everyone is focused, but it ain't on what you think.

FOR THE RECORD NO ONE HERE IS ADVOCATING ANY TYPE OF ILLEGAL JOB ACTION.

What are you advocating then?

Your very explanation is by definition an assessment that ALPA merger policy was violated. But USAir pilots are not stupid enough to waste their time going to quart.

ALPA and Dougie will pay what it costs to calm the natives, or not.

700UW is wrong... there are no winners save for the People At the Top. East can try to decertify, but national unions have successfully lobbied Congress to make decertification a next to impossible event.

My oldest daughter loves watching The Dog Whisperer and as we sat together the other night, I was struck by the number of times Caeser Milan would say "Let the dog think..." or "You want the dog to feel..." Then it occurred to me - that's exactly what our handlers in Washington do to us. Whether it's WMDs or Florida 2000 or that the small man can get justice in the system, they just want us to "think" that way. And like a pack of dogs, we buy it. What it comes down to for the East pilots is that they are 2700 or so dues paying members for ALPA. If they cost ALPA national more than what those dues are worth, then the ALPA national "handler" will take appropriate action. That could be in the form of a blank check to Doug to do whatever. The ONLY interest ALPA national has in this fiasco is what is best for ALPA national. Period.

Why would they want to spend their hard-earned vacation dollars on an airline that treats its workers so unfairly?

I disagree, in a supposedly 'pro union' town like Detroit the passengers walked right past the striking NWA mechanics without much of crisis of conscience as to where their hard earned vacation dollars were going.

WHATEVER... 🙄

Sadly, you are 100% correct.

And I'll bet if you did a wallet check of those passengers who walked past the NWA striking mechanics, a good percentage of them had an AFL-CIO affiliated union membership card in their possession.

How in the world can anyone think the award meets these criteria?
Not meaning to be snarky, but the answer is because Nicolau said so. Both sides empowered him to make that determination.
Even outsiders can see that the east pilots were screwed to the advantage of the west pilots.
Which "outsiders"? People who've read the entire Award or people who would just rather see the AWA guys screwed over USAir guys?

break

This talk of de-certifiying ALPA reminds me of the Ozark/TWA integration. They were headed for binding arbitration (based on DOH) but a large group of TWA guys wanted a staple job and tried to create a new union to make it happen. Pathetic! In the end Icahn's very real threat to furlough all Ozies and the TWA MEC's "helpful" advice to the OZ MEC coerced them to agree to a deal they didn't like. That was a shameful time for unionism and the talk by some USAir radicals here is of the same ilk.

(note: I am furloughed from TWA but the OZ merger in 1986 was long before my '99 hire.)

At the end of the day, the rat on the wheel just wants his cheese so that he may enjoy what he holds most dear - family, friends and life. The only thing that the powers that be need do is cut a small slice of cheese for those running themselves to death. Nothing more. The emotions on this board is nothing new. TWA/OZ, PanAm/National, and now AWA/U...wash, rinse, spin.

Sounds a lot like what the east F/A's did to the west with DOH...

Actually, AFA's merger policy was DOH at the time the West F/A's decided to become part of AFA. They came into AFA with their eyes wide open, knowing the DOH merger policy. The West AFA MEC did an excellent job of prosecuting the interests of their members at the AFA BOD meeting where changing that policy was discussed. In the end, the majority of all of the AFA LECP's decided not to change the AFA DOH merger policy.

How about the FFs who post here? They have no dog in the fight, but they have taken the time to look into the matter and have concluded that the "award" was unfair.

One doesn't have to read the entire 88 page award to see the unfairness of the result. One only has to look at the result and know what was brought to the table to see the reality.

I know better than to argue what's "fair". Afterall, that why there's an arbitration process. You can cry unfairness all day but your opinion carries no more weight than anyone else's. Only Nicolau's is what's binding.
