What's new

Pilots already pulling the ejection handle on AA

Again, has any campaign been waged to inform and sway the public? NO
Then how can anyone claim it doesn't matter?
If they do not know, then sure they do not care!
But what if they knew? easy
Exactly! If given the choice between an FAA scrutinized, US repaired aircraft and one done in Singapore that MIGHT have been glanced at by the FAA, I think that the choice would be obvious.

Merika public doesn't care until it's 'their' job outsourced.
Walking picket lines for EAL and NWA gives a real perspective of what the flying public cares about.
"I would feel better if you guys were on the job." as they crossed the picket line to catch their flight.

This has nothing to do with the safety of the aircraft, though. Now if you had unqualified pilots taking your seat, THAT would be different.

OK whatever, no need in trying, because according to some here, there is no such thing as Gravity, the whole world sucks and that is what holds us on the planet.

Gravity is a myth.

Glad to see that some Pilots are publicly expressing concern regarding outsourced maintenance.
If I were them, I would be very concerned also.

Mr. Lister is correct when he says the public is unaware.

If our Union would spend their time and money correcting that instead of playing politics and building websites as petitions, we would begin to reverse the destruction of domestic maintenance operations.

TWU and the AFL-CIO could make a difference if they would focus on a public campaign against foreign maintenance.
Nothing better than recruiting the guy/gal flying the aircraft to help get the message out into the publics eyes and minds.

Welcome back....

OK, how about a poll, maybe in the frequent flyer or water cooler forum with the simple question. Would you fly an airline knowing the overhauls were done out of country?

Has there been some sort of poll of the "flying public" that you base this opinion on?
All you have to do is look at passenger traffic. People look at price first.

I would love to see a start-up touting a USA maintained fleet as their signature.

Not sure how long they would last.

Maybe they could start a "Tea Party Airways".

Or OWS Airways.

Yep. Do it all the time. So do 95% of air travelers worldwide, since globally, few airlines still do their own overhauls, let alone in-country.

Someone else commented on this, but I also have to point to the hypocrisy of pilots complaining about foreign overhauls, yet at every airline except for AA, those same pilots seem to have no problems being paid to strap themselves (and their families?) into airplanes manufactured offshore and overhauled by third parties on a daily basis.

Not sure your going to get much help from the travelers? I mean, hell ,Obama is sending more and more jobs overseas than anybody! Best of luck anyway.....

IIRC, UAL ALPA MEC stated that they had no problems with outsourcing maintenance.
Can't remember this guys name. Woeworth or something like that... 🙄

Last time I checked Obama doesnt own AA nor run it.

And you can thank Ronald Reagan and Elizabeth Dole, they changed the FARs to permit foreign overhaul of US based aircraft.
