PIT Flight Reduction Press Release *Still* Mispelled

Look at this new memo I’ve just been forwarded by senior management !!

In order to prevent unfortunate misspelling accidents with city names , from now on ,all company memo’s , public relations publications and websites will employ 3 letter city codes so as not to make mistakes when referring to cities.

From those of us in PHX we would like to take a moment to apologize to those of you in PIT who were offended by the misspelling of your great city of PIT .

In other company news , new deals can be had at the travel office with tours of American’s biggest city , that’s right ! JFK ! Come visit JFK’s famous statue of liberty and eat at some of JFK’s fine dining establishments with US airways interline deals of 2 percent off at participating restaurants ( McDonalds and Wendy’s )

I truly hope this is a joke but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't.
I mean, how hard is it to have a competent proof-reader make sure that a press release concerning USAir's largest hub for years employing over 11,000 employees for years, spell Pittsburgh correctly?
No kidding, that was an inexcusable, heartless, lazy, amateur and offensive thing to do.

It only took all day for someone in Tempe to catch it.
Makes you wonder just how much attention to detail is provided to paychecks, benefits, flight releases etc.....

Good thing they cancelled PIT service to MDT a while back, or they might have spelled it "Harrisburgh."

You mean to tell me that the people of Fenix don't know how to spell Pittsburg? We are the most unprofessional and untalented group around. It's amazing. 😉

Everyone,

We know that the spelling of Pittsburgh was incorrect on the link to the Pittsburgh reductions press release at usairways.com. That kind of error is not only shameful but embarrassing and we apologize if anyone was offended by this mistake, as that was certainly not our intent. We’d like to explain how this error happened, why it took some time to fix and what we’re doing to prevent it from happening again.

Corporate Communications uses a third party vendor to maintain the press release section, as well as the Investor Relations page, at usairways.com. Whenever we distribute a wire press release, this vendor posts it to usairways.com. On Wednesday, they mistakenly misspelled Pittsburgh in the link. You’ll notice in the press release itself that Pittsburgh is spelled correctly in the title and throughout.

The vendor took an unacceptable amount of time to correct the error. We’ve received assurances from them that the misspelling should have never happened and an apology for taking so long to correct it. While that doesn’t make it any better, we know that attention to detail is paramount to our mission in Corp Comm.

Again, we regret the error.

Go back behind your cubicle in Tempe and save the excuses for the people who may actually believe anything that come out of this corporate headquarters and allow us to bi*#ch and moan in private...

I think I speak for all employees, especially the ones in PITTSBURGH we've had enough of your lies and half-truths!

Here you go, maybe you can get a hold of this poor woman and tell her some stories:

Have they ever accepted the blame for anything? They are like a bunch of 5 year olds pointing at another kid in the sandbox.

This is not the first time they've done this. They spelled Pittsburgh incorrectly in a press release awhile back that I found doing a google search.

Once again, pass the blame. Oh sorry, we've outsourced the handling of our PR announcements so we can't really be held liable for the mistakes.

Oh sorry, we outsourced our Mtx checks. So we can't be held responsible for that cracked rudder that broke in half, and caused this unfortunate accident, killing all 180 on board.....

Geeze.....
