What's new

PIT to FRA

Doug Parker stated at yesterday's PIT meeting that they plan to keep PIT "as is" for two years.

He said the same thing about HP in a PHX Town Hall about a year ago, and, well, here we are. DISCLAIMER: This statement is not to be misconstrued as another one of those tired "who bought whom" arguments. We needed each other. Done.

I hope you shared many constructive points about the website to marketing, and feel free to share many others, because if it's not the amenities that keep you coming then we need to know what will. We welcome your feedback. We want your feedback. We need your feedback. Besides, a strong competitor will only make us better.

And like I said before, schedules get revamped when Planning digs in and takes a look at them. Just because Siegel's minions thought some destinations were a good idea, doesn't mean Parker's will. And besides, maybe they are making money, no?

As far as Clubs, First Class, and any other amenity you pay for, fact: you like it, you want it, you pay for it. We make it available. It's as simple as that.

And don't get me wrong, we like whiney money just as well as non-whiney. I apologize for being too strident in my previous post. :stupid:

Ladies and Gents, we are officially 😱ff:

As for the decreased number of nonstop flights out of PIT that US offers, the people of the Pittsburgh metro area are getting what they have been asking for all along.
They complained that the fares were too high, not realizing that they could walk into PIT's airport and get on a US nonstop flight to about anywhere they wanted to go. The ability to do that always comes with a price. Now you have WN to take you to a few select cities.

Oh here we go again.......US held PIT hostage with FORTRESS HUB AIRFARES for years. It was a known fact. It is happening in CLT as we speak. And bantered about in Flyertalk http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=501246

What the people of PIT wanted and got, thanks in part to WN, was rational airfares. BUT and that's a BIG BUT.....it's only on flights that compete with WN and a few of the other airlines. Explain $1169.00 r/t PIT to BOS? Explain $940.00 r/t PIT to DCA? You can't! US has the monopoly on these routes out of PIT and they are raping us still.

As someone known to all of us likes to say....it's the fares, stupid!

GO FARES, BLO FARES, going going gone fares!! Give customers rational pricing. Plane and simple (pun intended)!

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Hey Barbell...... 😀 Good to know we can banter too.

we loose DFW, DTW,SAN and SEA nonstops in JANUARY!! And LAX goes to 2 single flights a day.

Which is 2 more PIT-LAX flights than everyone else flies. WN does not and will not fly PIT-DTW/SAN/SEA, even though it serves all of those stations.

I keep hearing about how the US cuts are "forcing" PIT customers to fly other airlines. Well, last I checked, US still offers more service at PIT than everyone else put together.

I keep hearing talk about how everyone else will replace the capacity US brought down, but it hasn't happened, and there's sure been enough time. People made a huge deal of NW starting PIT-MKE. Guess what, they dropped it. People make a huge deal about YX starting PIT-MCI. Well that's great, I'm glad, but that's one destination. The only cities the LCCs have added were all already well served.

Of course, if US cut another 100 flights, there would be substantial backfill, as the city can support a good deal of traffic, just not anything near what they once had. At this point, there aren't really any more markets that US could cut (aside from the feeder markets) that wouldn't be replaced. But the markets that are already gone or leaving, those won't be replaced, with maybe a handful of exceptions.

I really think the city would have been better off had US just completely left and turned the city into a spoke, with only service to the other hubs/focus cities. Don't think it couldn't be done, DL did just that at DFW. I guarantee you they'd have considerably less service in that scenario than they do now. But at least they'd be able to get over it, and get on with things, and stop blaming US for everything and wishing things how they were.

And as I mentioned above, even though I think US can successfully maintain a large focus city at PIT, they need to decide what they're going to do, and do it. They can't keep on dragging their feet and cutting another few cities every couple of months. That's clearly not working, and it's prolonging the problems for everyone.

That is the whole point. Either pull the bandaid off completely or not at all. Tearing at it in little bits only causes more pain.

Like the analogy?

I was at the town hall meeting yesterday. When the question was asked about Frankfurt. DP replied by saying that US was in conversation with area companies and community leaders. The co. is trying to find out if they can do it and be profitable. There was some discussion as to past flights being profitable or not.
