I give this deal about a 50/50 chance of actually happening. I think it's pretty obvious that Delta is not going to give in without a fight. It will be interesting to see if any other bidders come out of the woodwork. Rest assured that Dougie has a backup if this Delta deal doesn't stick.....

You really need to read what is publicly available in the press before you post.....
Offer was the same two months ago. dougie didn't get what he wanted so now he is trying to force the issue with a hostile takeover.

Let me simplify my statement for you. My contention had been that the creditors were not made aware of pariculars two months ago. Were the specifics of the deal offered up then to the DL creditors committee? If so please post where that was revealed.
I have not seen anywhere where DL's creditors were made aware of specifics when Jerry told US to pound sand last time.

Having read what I have in reguards to this offer, I dont believe it is up to DL Management, since the BK JUDGE will make the decision on what is best for CREDITORS, it is up in the AIR, TRUE DELTA is PROUD and STUBBORN but my gut tells me it will FLY....!!!!!

What you all fail to realize per bankruptcy DL's Management has the exclusive right to file the POR, then the creditors vote on it and the judge approves it or not.

Rivals can make their pitches to the creditors but DL's Managment still is in control.

OH MY GOD....this is three times in four years. What is this world coming too?

There have been several accounts in the press where Grinstein indicated the offer WAS discussed with the creditors. AS CEO he had to discuss the offer with them. The creditors declined to pursue the discussions, backing DL's plan, thus dougie being told to go away.

The only difference this time is that dougie filed with the SEC a formal tender offer. Thus DL must respond as the tender offer has now been formally made. It will result again in dougie spending money that really needs to spend on the web site, PHL, cost neutral contracts, cleaning planes etc. etc. etc. He will be rebuffed again.

dougie has proven he knows how to cash checks he did not earn from acquiring other companies. He has yet to prove he knows how to run one.

I'm going to keep asking these questions until someone answer them. If cost neutral contracts go out the window with this merger, why can't dougie do it now? Why are the employees not insisting on them going away now? Where are the big tough union leaders on this?

Has anyone else noticed a little coincidence with the creditors commitee and Boeing? The largest creditor DAL has right now and most powerful member on DAL's creditors committee is Boeing Capital. Doug has publicly stated he is in serious negotiations with Boeing for replacement aircraft. This leads me to believe most of the creditors knew about this deal for quite some time. Maybe not all of the details, but it sounds to me like Doug has Boeing in his back pocket; which could mean the creditors committee could follow. If they can just get DAL's BOD and Jery onboard, this merger will fly.

Machinists Union Responds to US Airways Merger Proposal
Wednesday November 15, 9:49 am ET

WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) General Vice President Robert Roach, Jr. today issued the following statement in response to US Airways' proposal to buy Delta Airlines:

"The IAM is prepared for additional airline mergers and a US Airways-Delta pairing is one of many being evaluated by our Transportation Merger Team. If US Airways hopes to complete a successful merger with Delta or any other airline they must first conclude the ongoing negotiations with the Machinists Union regarding the integration of America West employees into US Airways. Earlier today, US Airways CEO Doug Parker contacted me and indicated a desire to work with the Machinists Union. We are prepared to work together as long as all affected employees' interests are fully protected."

The IAM represents more than 10,000 Mechanic & Related, Fleet Service and Maintenance Instructors at US Airways. More information about the Machinists Union can be found at http://www.goiam.org.

BFD!!!!

All this tells me is that the IAM is willing to bet this goes through to get the union dues from the DL mechanics. Let's see them come out with something saying that all talk of cost neutral contracts must stop NOW.

(I knew this streak wasn't going to last long..... 😛 BTW, you breaking bread with us tomorrow?)

Cant get through security, and I have a workshop I teach to attend with my son at 5:30.

The IAM reached an interim agreement which restored 5 additional holidays, double time for OT again, shift differential reinstated, all 757s and 737s to be brought back in-house.

Wages and Pension are still being negotiated.

The various unions have him by the gonads on this. Stand up and represent your brothers for a change. Force the issue. He wants ( and I believe needs) this merger badly. One of the things that can sink it is severe labor unrest. For a change the unions have all the cards.

Sorry you can not attend. If you can work it out otherwise, I can get you through security. Just let me know.
